Drugs and Baby in Utero

My Question dosen't relate to me or a friend, It relates to the biological Mother of the child I have in foster care. The Mother is Currently Pregnant and Due next Month. What I want to know is How long does cocain or any drugs stay in the babies system? for example The mom had a positive drug test in febuary will that be in the babies system for a drug test when born? If the new baby test positive it will fortunatley help out My case, but it is unfortunate for the unborn child. Thanks to all who reply.

I don't know how long it stays in your system but I think they'll not only test but they'll look for withdrawal symptoms. If baby is withdrawing they'll still have plausible cause to take baby out of her care.

They have to automatically test the baby because she has a child in care. The Child we have tested positive for 3 different drugs when born. It all has been such a sad situation. If anyone else has any info on if it stays in the babies system for extended period of time please let me know. Thanks

The thing they will look for in the hospital isn't Cocaine in their systems; they'll be looking at the baby for withdrawal which does take time and is absolutely heart-wrenching and agonizing.

Cocaine I belive stays in the mother's system for 3 days after last use. But this depends how much, how often. We had a family friend go through this. But Im not sure about how long it takes to leave the baby. Marijuana stays longer. She had stopped smoking at 6 months of pregnancy and the baby tested positive at birth. Im not sure how long for sure any of these stay. Good Luck to you and sadly I hope the baby doesnt suffer because of the drug use
