Dry Skin Lotions???

So I know there isn't anything that is going to prevent stretch marks if I'm gonna get them I'm gonna get them. I have had really dry skin and itchy. I normally use Bath and Body Works body cream and it's just to expensive to be going through a tube every 7-8 days.

I bought Palmers Tummy Butter (cocoa butter oil) and I broke out and had a rash all over my body and made the itching worse. I stopped using it and with in a day the itching was gone and about 5 days the rash was gone.

I would like to know what you ladies have tried and thought worked the best. I like thick creams I don't like greasy lotions. It seems that all the less expensive bigger bottles of lotions are greasy to me.

I've also had to use my face moisturizer twice a day instead of just once. My skin is sooooo dry! It's usually dryer in the winter but this is ridiculously dry!

Any help you ladies can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ladies! As long as I use my lotion twice a day i don't itch. But at $6 a tube I can't afford to buy one every week.

The tummy butter is just cocoa butter and i'm afraid to use anything with cocoa butter now. I use fragrances lotion now and it hasn't bothered my skin so far.

I think I will try the avenno sounds like that is a good one.

I love aveno (i have never heard that you shouldn't use it)
it is great.

Also, cocoa butter. Straight cocoa butter. You can get it in a pop up tube and it works GREAT on stretchmarks.

I've also been using baby oil....my legs have been crazy dry. To the point that I'm itching like crazy at night!!! It helps a lot after a shower! So far it's been the best thing that works for me! Just find something that doesn't have perfumes in it....maybe just something with natural scents. My one friend gave me something called Belly Jelly by Substance Co. I live in Canada so I'm not sure where she got it.

aveeno, the daily moisturizing lotion...i love it. it's non-greasy and it hydrates for a very long time. don't use soy-based lotions though, so be careful. I guess soy is metabolized by the body as estrogen which is obviously really bad during pregnancy, but it only happens when it's absorbed through the skin...so like I guess you can drink soy products or eat them but you can't use them on your skin. weird, eh?

anyway, I love the aveeno! i've got VERY sensitive/fair skin and it doesn't irritate or make me feel like i'm suffocating...unfortunately the vasline and burt's bees make my skin feel like it's choking lol.

i use the burts bees baby lotion which has no fragrance so you shouldn't break out. I also use burts bees belly balm or something like that. Neither of these are greasy.

I like the vasilne brand cocoa butter lotion, but you may be allergic if the tummy butter gave you as rash.  The vasaline brand is very inexpensive.

Nooo don't use the Bad and Body works one! those have so much scent in them that practically neutralizes the moisturizing factor.
If you want some cheap yet good stuff you should definitely go for Aveeno. Also, baby oil after a shower.

I'm not sure if they'll be much help, but if you go somewhere like wal mart, you can always ask the pharmacist, they may be able to recommend a brand/type based on what you're looking for, and if not it doesn't hurt to ask.

I've used the baby oil in the shower and patted dry a few times.  Jergens is very greasy to me. I don't like it. I guess I'm just gonna have to buy a few different ones and try them.

If there's a tester bottle out in a store, I'd go through and try some, or you could just squeeze a little out of a bottle if it's not in a box...I've never seen anyone get in trouble for it. Jergens has some good ones...I don't know how expensive they are, I haven't bought any for a while...you could also try putting on baby oil (being careful not to slip and fall) once you get out of the shower. My hands got so dry a few days ago they were cracking and I used baby oil two times and they're much better.
