My wife is 8 weeks pregnant and has takan a u/s today were the doctor has told that there is no heart beat of the baby and also has instructed her to take a blood test.

Is there something we should be worried about??

Please advise

I agree with zara, this sounds like bad news. But the doctor should have said more. Maybe she's just still a little too early for the heartbeat to show but my thoughts are that if the doctor commented on no heart beat and then ordered blood work then that's probably not good. I wish you  good luck.

It doesnt always mean a Miscarrige!! This happened to my step mum in every pregnancy she has had and she has been pregnant 6 times!! And has always had healthy babies after miscarrying their twins everytime!!

Are you schedualed for another U/s??
Go to your doctors and make sure they do a routine blood test one today and then another inn 72 hours lets say to make sure they are doubling.
Did they say it was the right size?? And the exact dates you thought you were.. Or Did it stop growing?

Everything is going to be fine! The other week I heard my babies heart beat then a few days later it was gone.. Had my US and everything was okay. LOL....

Everything is going to be okay!
But it doesnt always mean miscarrige!

Not neccessarily. Finding a heart beat isn't easy in the first trimester, the heart is just so little.

The heartbeat is only one way to know that everything is ok, the other is to order a blood test for hcg levels. if they are within normal range then great, if not your doc may order either another scan or blood test.

It takes two tests of any kind to really know there is a problem. two scans to prove it isn't growing or two blood tests to show that hcg is decreasing.

be pleased that your doc is thorough and wants to be certain!

best of luck to you!
