FETAL POLE NO HEARTBEAT
LAST WEEK I WENT TO THE DR AND THEY TRIED TO FIND MY BABY's HEART BEAT USING A DOPPLER BUT NONE WAS PRESENT THE DR. TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY BECAUSE HE GAVE ME A PREG. TEST AND IT STILL CAME OUT POSITIVE. TO EASE MY MIND I WANTED A ULTRA SOUND. I AM 10WKS PREG. BUT THE FETAL POLE IS ONLY MEASURING UP TO 5 WEEKS. THERE WAS NO HEART BEAT DETECTED. THE DR. TOLD ME THERE STILL IS A CHANCE THAT I MAY BE PREG. AND WANTED TO DO A HCG TO SEE IF THEY'RE DROPPING OR NOT. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE POSSIBILITY OF MY BABY JUST DEVELOPING LATE? I'M KEEPING HOPE AND JUST LEAVE IT ALL IN GOD's HANDS. I HAVENT BEEN BLEEDING OR SPOTTING. I HAVE OCCASIONAL CRAMPS BUT THAT's IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE CHANCES ARE OF MY BABY STILL BEING OKAY AND GIVING BIRTH?
Hi, i am praying for you while i pray for my baby. I went to the doctors today and they told me that they couldn't see a heartbeat. They told me that i misscarried and that was all the info they gave me...this is my first pregnancy and i didnt know a lot of information so i said ok i mean i didnt know that it was possible i was less pregnant than i thought or maybe they just couldnt see it. I just want to go back next week and see a heartbeat. They didnt run any tests on my hcg or blood at all!! I would have asked when i was there but i didnt know any better.
Hi there...I just went thru the same thing.....twins at 9 weeks, measuring only 7 1/2 weeks.....no heartbeats in either...I felt fine, not even any cramping....I had Hcg levels drawn and they dropped....They suggested the D&C b/c of twins (more blood, etc....risk of hemmorhage)......Do not do anything that you feel uncomfortable with...that was why I had the Hcg levels drawn prior to the D&C...b/c I was convinced that everything was OK...Anyway, if you DO find that Hcg levels are dropping and after a few days you don't pass anything on your own...a D&C might be a good idea, as there is a high risk for infection in a missed miscarriage as well as the possibility of not passing all of the tissue and thus causing problems with future pregnancies (or TTC)......
I pray that you miscalculated and that you are only 5 weeks or so along...That would be the BEST! But just make sure that you do what's in the best interest of YOUR body as well! Good luck and I'll be thinking of you!

It's good your doctor isn't immediately suggesting that you miscarried. A lot of doctors do that. I hope everything works out and keep us posted!
IF YOUR HCG LEVELS WAS RIGHT WHERE THEY SHOULD'VE BEEN WHY DID YOU DO THE D&C? WAS THE BABY STILL GROWING? AND HOW LONG DID YOU WAIT BEFORE YOUR PREGNANCY RIGHT NOW? I JUST FEEL IT IN ME THAT MY BABY IS OKAY I WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS AT FIRST BUT I REALLY BELIEVE MY LIL ONE IS OKAY. IF ANYTHING BAD WAS TO HAPPEN THO' AND I WAS TO GET PREGNANT AGAIN I WOULD NOT WANT ANY ONE TO KNOW UNTIL THE 2ND TRIMESTER BUT THAT IS DIFFICULT B/C I AM IN THE MILITARY AND ONCE YOU FIND OUT YOU ARE PREGNANT YOU MUST NOTIFY PEOPLE ABOVE YOU.
I had the same thing happen to me, back in May, I had u/s and saw a heartbeat at 5wks, and by ten weeks we thought we would hear a heartbeat using dobbler, and nothing.. I went for the u/s and they said I was only 7.5 and no heartbeat. No symptoms, just some cramps here and there, no blood until I had seen the doctor and between my next u/s, so they rushed me in that day. My HCG was right where it should and I had three more u/s and still the same... No heartbeat, I waited a week and had the d&c.. But dont let that discourage you, if you do m/c, it is not your fault, relax and than let things happen. I now am working on number two, and am a happy 15 weeks now.. Only three months after my d/c. So chin up, and good luck.. I was four weeks earlier with this one, than they thought, so you could be in that boat too.. But deep down inside, you should know, I had a feeling last time, just knew.. and this time I know it will all work out..

please let me know what happens the samething happened to me in nov i was 12 weeks and went for my scan with no spotting and the baby was only five weeks they said maby i was not as far along as i thought i was still getting really dark positive pregancy tests and everything but at 13 weeks i misscarried so i tock 8 weeks for my body to misscarry and i still had high levels of hcg i did not let them do anything i miscarried naturally i want to give my child every chance to be ok please let me know i really want to see this stiuation try out for the best for someone else good luck
WELL, THE DR WHO SEEN ME SAID THAT I MAY HAVE CONCEIVED LATER THEN I THOUGHT AS WELL AND I COULD BE 5WKS AND NOT 10. I HAD MY 1ST U/S AND THEY JUST SEEN THE FETAL POLE. I AM ALMOST CERTAIN/CONFIDENT THAT MY BABY IS FINE AND THERE MUST BE SOME MISTAKE ITS JUST I HAD MY HEART SET ON HEARING MY BABIES HEART BEAT. I HAVE ANOTHER APPT SO THEY CAN TAKE SOME BLOOD TO TEST MY HCG LEVELS AGAIN. WHEN THEY TOOK IT ON MONDAY MY HCG LEVELS WERE ALMOST 20,000. THEN THEY'RE GOING TO DO ANOTHER ULTRASOUND AS WELL. THE DR. ALREADY TOLD ME ABOUT THE DIFFERENT WAYS TO GET MY BABY OUT OF MY SYSTEM BUT IM NOT DOING ANYTHING TIL I KNOW FOR SURE AND EVEN WITH THAT IM GOING TO LET NATURE TAKE ITS COURSE. IF IT WAS GOD'S WILL THEN IT WAS GODS WILL...BUT I BELIEVE THAT MY BABY IS FINE AND I HOPE OTHERS WILL PRAY FOR US. THANK YOU...
It honestly sounds like a missed miscarriage to more like njeosys said that you conceived later than you thought. Have you had any ultrasounds prior to this? In the beginning of pregnancy at the way to the 2nd trimester all babies develop at the same rate so your baby wouldn't be growing small. When I had my miscarriage I had an ultrasound at 9 1/2 weeks and the baby was only measuring 6 1/2. Because my body didn't get rid of it on its own I ended up having to get a D&C a couple days later. I hope that isn't the case with you.
If your baby is measuring 5 weeks as a fetal pole but you're still getting a positive pregnancy test, then chances are you probably conceived later than you think. You could've missed a period and conceived in what would've been the next cycle, making you believe you are 10 wks instead of 5.
Anyway, you won't find a heartbeat this early using a doppler. It is hard to believe that you would still have HCG in your system if, let's say, your baby stopped developing at 5 weeks and here you are at 10 wks. That would've been FIVE weeks that have gone by. Miscarriages usually happen WITHIN 3 weeks of the embryo stopping development.
