Ferrous Sulfate??? Iron supplement

Please help....For I live in Taiwan and my wife is pregnant. She 15 weeks and I have ask 3 different doctors this question. is it ok to take Ferrous Sulfate(Iron)? Every Doctor has told me to take Complex B and the Ferrous Sulfate..First. I have Prenatal but they told me to wait 18 weeks...why? I have read alot on Iron ( Ferrous Sulfate) and its alittle scary. Please help me for I want to make sure the Doctors here are correct.

So why would he tell me to wait on the Prenatal??? The B complex does not have Iron. So I should take the Prenatal insteed of the B complex??

If she's already on prenatal vitamins and she isn't anemic don't worry about taking extra iron that's what prenatal vitamins are for. The doctor will do some blood work to determine if she's anemic or not. Good luck!!

In the u.s. (this doesn't mean it's standard other places) a prenatal is recommended from the point you find out testing positive for pregnancy.  Adding extra iron is usually only recommended if you are testing anemic.
doctors regardless of country educate themselves for YEARS on medicine and then even more so when they specialize.  Trust your doctor.  If you don't trust him you should switch.
