Fertility PCOS question

SO I just came from the doc and she did my ovarian count and from how my ovaries look she says I have the classic signs of PCOS. I am so disappointed... Does anyone have any advice or how treatment will be changed now????

Hey I pm'd you I could use any help with losing the weight and I figured if I could lose a few pounds then my menses would come back and maybe we would have a chance on our own. I am going to weigh myself this morning and put on a weight tracker and see from there what I can eo.

Exercise, I believe, was also a major factor in me getting pregnant. I started losing weight and I think it really helped my body. I also started eating more raw fruits and veggies, lean proteins (and trying to eat more protein in general). I would drink a SlimFast for breakfast or eat a protein bar for breakfast. Luna Bars are one of the BEST! They don't taste chalky.

I also joined the Weight Loss community here at MedHelp and I LOVE THEM ALL over there (can't wait to get back over there after baby is born):

And I also joined another website that helped me track my food (it would tell me the proper calories, fat, carbs, etc. that my body needed at my weight/height/age; which was 1200-1550 calories a day), it would give me workouts to do and tell me which ones I needed to do that particular day (cardio, weights, etc.). If I charted what workouts I did it would tell me approximately how many calories burned and what my target was for burning calories. I can't post the website here but can PM it to you.

I am hoping so. I am going to start eating a lot more greens and organics and am going to start working out more so hopefully i will definitely going to try.

Oh, so they are checking your blood work then? That's good! Let us know the results or if you have more questions.

It can be a discouraging diagnosis but PCOS is something you CAN get rid of with diet, exercise and medication. *HUGS*

Yeah Met is what is going to happen anyways she told me today. She did the ovary check and told me I had all of the classic symptoms and I haven't ovulated on my own in 8 months so they have take a total of 23 tubes of blood from me so when I have my consultation in about a week we will go from there.

PCOS is more complex than just having multiple follicles on the ovaries. She needs to do a glucose test (3-hour!) on you to make sure you do not have insulin resistance that is very commonly associated with PCOS. She also needs to check all your hormones and see if your hormones are out of whack.

Finally, during your next cycle, she needs to do a progesterone check to see if you're even ovulating. If you're not ovulating on your own then you may need assistance via Clomid or Femara or whatever else is out there.

I have PCOS and I'm pregnant. Pregnancy IS possible. Just might take a little longer.

Treatment for PCOS is varied. The common thing is taking Metformin (aka Glucophage) which is a diabetic drug. I do NOT have the insulin resistance/diabetes associated with PCOS but I still took Metformin. It helped me with weight loss and I believe, ultimately, allowed my body to ovulate on its own. I just felt BETTER on Met.
