Fetal heart rate: Can it predict gender?

I have recently heard that the heart rate of a fetus can usually predict the gender of the baby.
For example, if the heart rate is consistently over 140, it's usually a girl; under 140, it's usually a boy. Is this true?
My baby has 155 beats per minute.

The babies heartrate is usually higher in the beginning of pregnancy around 160-175. Then it goes down around 20 weeks and then it just depends on what the baby is doing as to how fast their heart is beating. When mine was sleeping hers would be about 135 and when she was awake and kicking it was about 155. When I delivered her in the hospital it was about 126 the whole time.

not true!!!! my little bean got all the way to 180. I thought for sure it was a girl because of this rule. I just found out about a month ago that we are having a boy!!!

It was true for me, but that was just a coincidence....  My girl had a 180 heartbeat at first....then stayed above 150....

The only time it might be close to being true is in the last few weeks....but again, I read it only has a 50% success rate at predicting the right sex....  yep, 50%....which means it could be a boy or a girl.  :)

Mine has been consistently 140 on the nose.  So according to this old wives tale, what would that mean for me?  We're hoping for a girl!  We'll find out on the 29th!

That's BS, another Old Wives Tale... at the beginning my son's heartrate was around 180, then it eventually decreased, but still very strong, and now his heartrate his around 150 a little over 140. According to the Old Wives Tales i am having a boy, which I am, but I still never based it on what it was telling me, it was just a coincidence I guess.

My baby's heart rate goes up and down from visit to visit.

I do not believe that the heart rate can predict the baby's sex.

Thanks Shannon....

I'm 23 weeks now. Today heart rate measured 155 & its consistent for the last 3 months.

One more question...does consuming Iron tablets have any impact on the complexion of the baby??

For me it was completely untrue... and in fact all for all of my friends it was completely untrue. I think it's just an old wives tale to be honest. I am 20 weeks pregnant and my baby's heartrate has consistently been around 160 and I am having a boy.
