First Appointment and Due Dates

Okay first of all based on my LMP which was Nov 1..  I should be around 5w1d, which makes my due date Aug6 based on most of these due date calculators on here.. how much could that possibly change my due date when I get into the dr.

Another thing, I had the previous miscarriage as most of you are already aware of which it was early in my 4th week so I feel a little better that I've made it into my 5th although I still dont' feel too pregnant, but the cramping I was having is just in spurts now and I haven't had any blood at all so I feel good about that as well.. But I scheduled my appointment and they can't get me in till January 2nd, which makes me very nervous.. Its almost 4 weeks away which will make me around 9 weeks, what all do they do on the first visit?? If they don't do an ultrasound how will they confirm that the pregnancy is still healthy and what not.. I know I sound extremely paranoid, I'm tryin to relax its just difficult because I want this baby soo much

I agree with the other posts and yes they will do an internal exam to check the size of the uterus and they will also do lab work.  Good luck and try to relax.

I think you should request at least a pelvic ultrasound, since you've have a prior miscarriage. otherwise, you'll be nervous until you have one.

If you're really nervous, you could call and ask the nurse if you could go ahead and get the lab work (blood tests) done before your appointment to make sure your HCG and progesterone are okay since you've had a m/c before.

Doctors in the US don't see patients until around 10 weeks pregnant. So that's normal from the doc's office perspective. Most docs won't schedule for u/s until you're around 18-22 weeks unless they feel something might be wrong or need checking into.

Yes, you can hear the heartbeat by 9 weeks, but it might be hard to find (don't freak if that happens). They generally don't look for fetal heartbeat by doppler until 12 weeks.

Hope this information helps. I found out I was preg last Thurs. and went to the doctor that Fri. On Fri. I was one day away from missing my cycle but the blood test definitely showed I was preg. I had to go back on Mon. to do another test to make sure my levels were rising like they should. On Mon.  nurse said my levels looked great and they did exactly what they were supposed to do. I also saw my ob and he said they will do an ultra sound in two weeks to hear the heart beat. At that time I will be between 6-7 weeks preg.

If they do not do the ultrasound do they just go off of all the lab work and the physical exam and see if the pregnancy is healthy or not... I don't know if at 9 week they can hear the heartbeat or not by doppler, I know on an ultrasound they could see if but otherwise I do not know how they would do all of that..

I would call back the office and confirm or not if they will do an ultrasound.  My dr has never done an ultrasound on me before 18 weeks.  But in your history with having a previous m/c they may want to.  But like I said call and confirm it.  Good luck to you :o)
