They just did a sonogram and a pap smear on me i was worried too and scared half to death to look at the screen LOL! You need blood work but i got mine at the 2nd appt since i got the first trimester screening deal! they ll also ask you your and your S/O's complete family history they asked me and then when they brought my BF bk they asked him the same ones. It's not bad its easy but i undertand its my first go around too!

At my first appointment, they asked about my history. Whether or not I've had any prior-pregnancy's, miscarriages, family history, etc. They do a pelvic exam- (pap-smear). a bimanual internal exam (with two fingers inside the vagina and one hand on the abdomen) will be performed to determine the size of your uterus and pelvis. This exam will also check for any abnormalities of the uterus, ovaries, or fallopian tubes. They'll also do a physical exam which is just to check your weight, blood pressure, heart, lungs, and breasts.

Depending on the ultrasound, they may do a vaginal one which doesn't hurt. Well, it didn't me anyway. Or they may do a regular one. Depends on how far along you are and other factors.

My doc normally does a pelvic exam and an u/s depending on how far along I am.  That's why he likes to wait until 7 or 8 weeks so we can really see something.  Then they do some blood work.

Good luck and enjoy your journey!!!

They usually do a full pelvic exam and pap smear. That's all I remember from my first apt but they talk to you about a lot of different things and answer any questions you might have.
