First cycle after m/c

So today AF arrived. It's my first cycle since my m/c on April 18th.......37 days.  It so painful... I am taking 500mg of ibuprofen  every 2 hours and it's still not even helping.  I've used the heating pad nothing is working.  I'm use to cramps every month as I get pretty bad ones but nothing like this.

Has anyone had such painful cramps the first cycle after a m/c is this normal?

I laid on the couch all day yesterday only getting up to get something to drink and to let the dogs in and out.  Today the cramps are much better there still there but tolerable. I have noticed that the flow isn't as heavy as my "normal" cycle would be.  I hope that it's better next month.

your body is still very off after a MC and d and c.  but it is normal to have bad cramping afterwards especially with your first period.  like i said, i thought i was dying the pain was so bad.  then the next month i had more cramps than usual but not as bad and now they are back to normal.  it takes a couple of cycles to get back to normal.

I thought thats what the cramps after the D&C were doing I had really bad ones for 3 days and at my 2wk check up the dr did pelvic exam and said my uterus was back to normal.  I guess it's not.

your uterus is collapsing back down to normal size and it is very painful, same thing just like Joy said like you just gave birth.

YES!!! You're not alone... after you give birth the first period also hurts excrutiatingly (sp?). It must just be that after your uterus goes through pregnancy, no matter how long it lasted, your next period is gonna hurt.

Sorry you're having a hard time of it!!!

Yes, the first period after my first d and c i thought i was dying.  I had the worst cramps ever.  they slow down after a few days.  if they become too unbearable, give your OB a call and they might want to see you, but after the first 3-4 days after my first period they slowed down.
