Flat Gestational Sac

I went to the er on 5/4/10 for light bleeding with no cramps. I had my first u/s done while there and the doctor said my gestational sac was flat but there was placenta and I heartbeat. Could the pregnancy continue normally or well I miscarry. Also when I got home that morning and went to the restroom, a blood clot came out that was very noticable, could that also have been a miscarriage. I am really worried because this will be my 2nd miscarriage in less then 6 months and we really want a baby.

I am guessing you had an internal ultrasound done....I had some bleeding about 2 weeks ago (around 10 weeks when it happened) and I had the doctor do an internal exam and they also did an internal ultrasound.  I also had some small blood clots come out when I was done.  I think it was just from the irritation to the cervix.  I am not sure what the flat gestational sac means though sorry.  Good luck and I wish you the best of luck.

Hmm... Did you call the doctor when you passed the clot? I think that they will be the only one to tell you if you have miscarried. I have done some research and a misshapen or flat sac does not necessarily mean that you are going to miscarry (and since you saw a heartbeat then that is a great sign!) but you definitely need to follow up with your doctor to see what is causing your bleeding. Best of luck!
