Gallbladder pain after baby is born

Hi girls, just wondering if any of you have expereinced any type of pain in your gallbladder after giving birth?  I had my baby boy almost 3 weeks ago, I knew I had one gallstone and was told that last year but the Dr. found it prior to a D&C I had to have due to a miscarriage. I am having a lot of pain and to my knowledge this is very common after having a baby not sure why but wanted to know if any of you knew some good remedies to help with pain. I am seeing the Dr. today because the pain I am having is so icruiating, I am so uncomfortable. Anyhow thanks for reading this. God this just sucks.. I have a beautiful baby boy to worship but I am in tears from pain.. SO not fair!!! K thanks ladies.

Good to hear you have insurance.. life sucks without it!  I will let you know how it goes. I see a general surgeon on Monday the 12th.. and we'll take it from there. Drink Mylanta if yours flares up a little its been helping me! Take Care !!

Hi Shell.. thanks so much for sharing your story with me. I thought it was c-section related to but it just didn't feel " normal " so wow my mom totally knew it was my gallbladder I had a fever las week talked to the dr, they had me come in ASAP took my blood but it was nothing c section related. but they found out my white blood count was high so thats when my mom was like its your freakin gallbladder. Thanks for the congrats on my new baby boy,, and I am taking it all in becaause they so grow up fast. Also, thank you for allowing me to ask more questions if I need to, Very sweet of you!

Hi Rachie.. WOW the pain sucks bad! but it does turn out it is my gallbladder I have several stones and I am seeing a genera surgeon next week and then take it from there!  Having no insurance sucks A$$ I am very fortunate to have fantastic insurance, I'd be lost but all part of the process I wouldnt trade it for the world!

Thanks again girls ! I hope to get my gallbladder out SOON!!!! :o)

sweetie I had the same exact thing happen. I was fine before and while pregnant, then about 3 weeks after I stated getting this HORRIBLE pain....turns out it was my galbladder.  I truly truly suffered with it but I didn't have any insurance so I couldn't get it removed.  It is much better now...(4 years later)  The only advice i can give is stay calm...mine always flared up when I was stressed.  Good luck hun...i feel your pain

I had horrible pains in my abdomen after my son was born and I was told it was due to having a c-section, muscles contracting everything going back to normal, etc.  My son was born August 06 and after a year of horrible pains I had my gallbladder removed in Sept. 07.  I went on Friday to my yearly gyne appt. and I told her about how I had to have my gallbladder removed and she said it is very common after giving birth especially if your baby is too big for your body.  My son was 8 lbs. 11 oz. and I am barely 5'3.  He took up my whole entire torso area and then some.  The dr. said they wondered how he fit in there.....lol!  Just thought I would pass along my story with that.  And the btw, congrats on the baby boy!!!  Enjoy him, I can't believe my Tommy is already 20 months!  If you have any other questions don't hesitate to send me a message.

Shell

P.S. It took so long to diagnose my gallbladder because I never had stones, it was just extremely inflammed and not functioning and the only way to tell is with a HIDA scan, CT's and ultrasounds may show a normal gallbladder.  Good luck to you!
