jen- i got measured on my last appointment which was at 18 weeks. I measured 19 inches. So techinally an inch over, but she said I looked great. I think they measure more so to see how you progress rather than to see what you measure at for 1 particular time. Like if you didnt grow at all then they might worry. Thats the way I look at it anyway. you look beautiful so dont worry!!
Thanks ladies :-) I guess I will have to wait and see at the beginning of my third trimester (that's when I'm scheduled next) I did ask him about the ultrasound measuring me a week ahead and he said that he doesn't go by that, we still go by my dates making my due date May 10. I guess that's good :-)
They started measuring me since the first prenatal appointment but like everyone else has said- each doctor is different.
They're measuring the fundal height (size of uterus--- from pubic bone to top of the uterus). You can always ask! Most doctors aren't doing it anymore because, as you can see, measurements don't always add up correctly and aren't always an indication of something being amiss. Each woman's body and belly will be different so there's no "constant" that the doctors can go by.
yep i was about 23-24 wks wen they first measured me lol i tried at home not thinking i was using an inches not cm measureing tape lol...........damn pregnancy brain lol
Well... I think all doctors are different. My doctor began measuring me around 12 weeks... I am only 4'11 and have a small frame, so maybe that is why? I am not too sure... but I was measured around 12 weeks and from that appointment on out, I have always been measured. :)
Sounds like every doctor and practice has their own way of monitoring a patients progress... but I am sure that you will be measured soon! :)
I think the first time they measured me was at 23 weeks but that was only because I was moving and my doctor wanted to get a measurement for my records. But usually they dont start measuring your belly until your third trimester (26 weeks or so). Its just a measuring tape...the doctor will feel for the top of your uterus and than measure all the way down to your pubic bone. Don't worry, they'll be measuring you soon!
I'm 22w and I haven't been measured yet...I was curious when this would happen too =)
I'm right with you, and they havn't measured me either, but it really isn't accurate, they don't change due dates or anything like that if you ae measuring off, Just somthing else to worry us about if it dosent match perfectly! LOL
Oh..... Well the last couple appointments my doc has measured me and I just turned 28 weeks...... i think maybe they at the begining of the second trimester... when the uterus has moved above or by the belly button....
Jen just ask next time you go if they will or why they havent been measuring ya! ;-)
They dont start measuring you intill you are about.......28-30 something weeks I think. Hang in there, your time will come.....
its when they take like a measuring tape and go from the top of your pubic bone up to the top of your uterus. thats how they measure
