I did the Chinese calendar thing as well...I asked around on this forum to see if it really worked and it was 50/50...Mine says a boy, which is what I'm hoping for. I've never really believe in alot of "oh if you finish first it's a boy" or "if you crave candy it's a girl" I think it's just all genes and DNA and up to God...but they do say that the sex is determined by the man. So if your hubby wanted a boy and ended up with a girl and gets mad at you, they're actually the ones that determine the sex of the baby.

I read somewhere if your baby is born in the winter, its more likely to be a girl because girl babies are stronger (needed back in the days before heat) and boys are more likely to be born in the summer. Ofcourse, I know plenty of people who had girls in summer and boys in winter but the majority do kind of follow this pattern. I don't know. There are so many factors that go into it such as timing, lifestyle (smoking will kill of male sperm first), etc.

I've been looking into it a bit b/c me and my husband want one of each. I know there is this book or method that you can buy online and such....i think it's the Shettles Method or something like that and it gurantee's your baby's sex or your money back. Apparently its based on the principal that x chromasomes the "female spern" swim slower but live longer....slow and steady win the race. The y chromasomes the 'male sperm" swim faster but die quicker. If you have sex a couple days before you ovulate your more likely to have a girl where as if you have sex just before you ovulate to just after your more likely to have a boy. That's as much as I know about the subject. Hope it helps.

Honestly it just depends what sperm gets there first. male sperm are supposed to be faster than female sperm and die quicker where as female sperm live longer... however its not by that much of a different. As far as the chinese calander that is just an old wives tale. I know people that will swear by it but I know of other people who will say that it was wrong for them. For me it was wrong it said boy and I'm having a girl.

I know female sperm live longer than male sperm however male sperm will get there faster than female sperm with this said it really all depends on when you ovulate, if you are trying for a girl I would definitely not wait to have sex the day you ovulate but maybe start a couple days sooner.  This should hopefully increase your chances.  Good Luck!!

There really isn't an sex position or secret formula to having a girl. A lot depends on the environment in the vagina and the sperm. X sperm and Y sperm are very different. One is stronger but slower, the other faster yet weaker.

I've heard that having sex during certain seasons helps you to have one or the other. But I really don't know. I have two girls and I got pregnant with one in June and the other in August. I guess warmer months mean girls??? I'm just guessing! Sorry!
