Glucose Test Results

So you ladies know that I work in the hospital where I'm going to give birth, so therefore I can look at my own test results.  Well I had my Glucose challenge this morning and the test came as 138mg/dl (without having nothing to eat prior to the test).  I called my doctor right away, but I left him a message....

From doing some research online, I see my number is too high!!! What do you guys think??? Please help, I don't want to have GD!!

I had my glucose test at 26 weeks because they were about to give me steriods which also increases your sugar levels for 2 weeks. I failed right off the bat, they didn't even need to retest (my number was 12 mmo/L) They tried to control it with diet for the first 2 weeks but with the steriods i had no luck, it was very evident after the 2 weeks though i couldn't control it with diet....but being on bedrest has a lot to do with that. I've been on insulin since 29 weeks. I am controlling it very well though...and my baby is not getting to big, I start having biophysicals on monday every week though to keep an eye on the baby

My doctor said the number should be under 130 on the one hour test.  Mine was 134, so I did the 3 hour test.  I passed that one.  I wouldn't worry too much at this point.  The one hour is really just a screening, trying to catch the women who should take the longer test.

You're supossed to get under 140 on the one hour test.
My results were 157 on the one hour.
Normal results for the 3 hour test:
  * Fasting blood glucose level ≥95 mg/dl (5.33 mmol/L)
    * 1 hour blood glucose level ≥180 mg/dl (10 mmol/L)
    * 2 hour blood glucose level ≥155 mg/dl (8.6 mmol/L)
    * 3 hour blood glucose level ≥140 mg/dl (7.8 mmol/L)
I also failed the 3 hour one, but many people who fail the 1 hour pass the 3 hours with flying colors.
Dont stress Jen, try to take it easy....Keep us updated, good luck!

This is what i found.... I thought ur level looked fine, and i actually have GD.

The following are the values which the American Diabetes Association considers to be abnormal during the 100 g of glucose OGTT:

    * Fasting blood glucose level ≥95 mg/dl (5.33 mmol/L)
    * 1 hour blood glucose level ≥180 mg/dl (10 mmol/L)
    * 2 hour blood glucose level ≥155 mg/dl (8.6 mmol/L)
    * 3 hour blood glucose level ≥140 mg/dl (7.8 mmol/L)

That's how I knew something wasn't right with mine...I too fasted for the one hour...and when people had told me they had "high" one hours it was because they had eaten something or drank a soda or something....but I didn't and it was still high....I hope you get good news guys.....and don't worry even if it does turn out you have it, it is completely manageable....

I think it is too high but only a doctor can tell you for sure.  The three hour test will be more helpful in determining if you truly have gd.

Good luck!

I thought that you had to be as close to 28 weeks as possible to get the most accurate results. I have no idea what to tell you as I will get my results this evening. Best of luck to you!

So this was the one hour test right?  Next step will be the three hour test.....that is needed to confirm GD....

I had GD with my last pregnancy though, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.
