Groin pain during pregnancy

I am roughly 6 weeks pg with my second child.  My OB sent me to the ER yesterday for some spotting (no pain).  ER said everything looked ok but my blood hcg levels are on the low side of normal.  They also did a abdominal and vaginal ultrasound.  The u/s looked good.  I was told the spotting was likely due to old implantation blood.

I called my OB's office back today because the spotting was continuing and again, no pain.  The OB wanted me to come in for another u/s (apparantly she does not trust the hospital I went to).  I had another vaginal u/s today.  Everything looks great (saw the heartbeat).  The tech said that my pregnancy is a little earlier than we originally thought so perhaps that is the reason for the low hcg.

On my way home from the test, I started having pain in my left groin area.  It's intermittent and sharp and sort of feels like a spasm.  I've been having it intermittenly for the last 2.5 hours.  I hate to go back to the hospital since the ultrasounds looked fine and I know now that I am not having an ectopic.  The spotting has stopped.

Could this be due to round ligament pain even though I am so early in my pregnancy?  Could the "trauma" I've been through in the last 24 hours cause this type of pain (manual pelvic exam and with speculum, 2 vag ultrasounds).

Thanks for your reply.  I had a urine test at the ER and no infection was found.  I have had bladder infections before and this is a totally different type of pain.

I just talked to my doc and he said it sounds like a normal ache of pregnancy and to just take some Tylenol.  We'll see if that helps!

I just hate feeling like every little pain is something bad!

pain on the left side, could be attributed to a kidney or bladder infection.....they are obviously not worried about the bleeding, since that has been explained....now, when they do a urine test, they should have been able to read the nitrate levels, b/c if there were any nitrates, it would indicate an infection.....

idk about the round ligament pain, i've not had it that i know of....also, the reason i mention the kidney infection, is because i went to the ER twice because of it, and the 1st time they didn't see anything wrong, but a couple days later, they realized i had a very severe kidney infection....but then my pains were also so bad, i was thinking miscarriage or something just as horrific...turned out to be an infection, that didnt completely go away till this week...that was mother's day we found the 1st infection lol.....

i'm also unsure if the paps and vag u/s's could be the cause of the pain....although when i think about it, i had a vag u/s on thursday, and i do remember a little bit of a pulling sensation that wasn't really painful, but unpleasant, and when i got home and called my dr, she said it was fine....
