Has anyone ever threw up blood?

Last night I got sick and I figured that I was just going to dry heave b/c I hadn't ate dinner yet and normally I do get nauseated if I don't eat often. but when I threw up I threw up blood. Has this happened to anyone?

I would think that any time you start to throw up some blood you should get to your doctor.

I've called them and left a message this morning. Waiting to hear back from them now.

How much blood? Was it just a little or a lot?

You could have been dried out and puked a little blood, that has happened to me, but it wasn't excessive. I definitely think speaking to your Dr is a good idea in this case. Keep us posted.

i hope you hear back from your doctor, if not i'd go to emergency. you could try a piece of dry toast?
my mother has vomited blood before and it wasn't good news. it could be an ulcer which isn't quite as scary as your stomach lining breaking apart, but still not fun. hope you get checked out soon. : ) good luck and i hope you are feeling better soon.

The Dr called. well nurse and said its possible i just popped a blood vessel but they are calling me in some nausea medicine. It wasn't like "alot" of blood but it was enough to fill the bottom of the toliet.
