Heard baby's heartbeat at 7 weeks could i still have a miscarraige?

Hi please could you help my sister had a miscarridge at 8 weeks but had no simtoms just found out on her 12 week scan.  When i found out i was pregnant i had a privite scan at 7 weeks - heard my babys heart beat.  Does this mean i have less chance of mis-carring?

I had a heart beat during both my miscarriages. I don't know much about my first because I wasn't monitored.  I had a heart beat until 8 weeks with my second but it was always on the slower side and the gestational sac was smaller than it should have been. As long as your doctor said everything looked good, then I would think you have a good chance of not miscarrying.

Personally since I experienced a miscarriage...waiting 5 weeks for another scan is soo long. When I do get pregnant again I'll be going in like every other week just to make sure the baby is okay :) But since you are almost 10 weeks waiting another 2 isn't too bad especially if you're feeling fine and you have no symptoms of a miscarriage. I thought you were only 7 weeks...thats why I was suggesting going back sooner than week 12 but since you're almost 10 I think your good. Congratulations!! And I hope you have a healthy baby!

You can really have a miscarriage at any time. I know of many women who have had ultrasounds, saw the baby, heard a heartbeat and than miscarried. It all just depends. However, it is good that you heard your babys heart beat, thats a very good sign. I also had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and didn't find out until my 12 week scan, so it does happen but I'd say your chances of carrying to full term are good, just keep going back for ultrasounds and check ups.
