Oh and the further into your pregnancy you get the lower the the average is for the heartrate. For instance at 10 weeks the heartrate may have had a resting beat of 150 and at 40 weeks its 125.

Old wives tale. Both my daughters jumped from 130-160 on a consistent basis. It just depends on what baby is doing when you listen to its heartbeat. It's like adults. If you are at the gym kick boxing your heart rate will be higher then if you are lounging around reading a book.

ya i heard that it doesnt work, as the prev post said if the baby is active the heart rate would be fast and if the baby is at rest the heart rate is slow so it would depend on when the heart rate is checked... i have read both too... one saying above 150 girl and another saying boy... my daughter was always around 150.... this one is around 166 so we will see if the difference means anything?? I dont know and it would depend on how many ppl the test was done on as well... so im still going with it having the 50/50 chance... lol

The more active the baby the faster the hb I am always told, I have had high and low hbs at different stages of all of my pregnancies and have a girl and 2 boys, don't know the sex of his baby but his/her heart rte has been the same, up an down at different appts

Depends ont he study that you read.  I have seen one that say over 150 it's a girl and another one say that means its a boy.  I also saw one study that said there was no actual co-ordination between heart rate and gender.    I know that my baby's is always between 145-160 and it's a boy. (2 U/s confirmed it) but my neice's heartrate was around the same, 145-160,  every time my sister heard it.  Only way to know for sure is to wait for the u/s.

U cant tell a gender by hr. At my first dr appt. hr was 166. 4 weeks later it was 132. 4 weeks after that it was 144 and we are having a little boy :) everyone is so different.

But of course people have different believes becomes to it. my teacher told us that boys are stronger than girls. I think depends on how healthy is the baby either..

I study this in my maternity class I don't think it's a myth. The boys they do have faster HR than girls. The boys showed 165&up & the girls are lower. I already knew I was having a boy by his heart beat when I heard the HR in Doppler...
