Heartbeat with doppler ????

I was in the ER this morning all morning long since the drs office was busy. I had some spotting and cramping this weekend so they wanted me to come in to the ER. I went and they said I had cervisitis and that it would have to clear up on its on and that the uterus and cervix looked and felt normal. But when they went to listen for the heartbeat with the doppler they couldn't find it. The dr said its normal not to hear it sometimes until 12 weeks. I am really worried we seen it at 7 wks 3 days and it was going fast and strong. Has anyone not heard the heartbeat yet and around 10 weeks??? I am 10 weeks 2 days. I see my ob on wed but I am worried sick also I am on bedrest until then. I have two kids but the first I was around 11 weeks when we found out and with my daughter I am not sure when we first heard it I am thinking 12 weeks. I did have a miscarriage in nov but I was not this far along so I am really worried about it. Thanks for your help!

It took me a while to find the HB at 10w2d, the first time I found it with a home doppler. It took patients (sp? lol) and I had to press in DEEP with the doppler/wand. It's normal not to hear the HB. I didn't hear it on doppler til 13 or 14w at the doctors office. Don't worry!

When I was 10wks, my doctor couldn't find my son's heartbeat. I was freaking out, but she told me that it's not uncommon and not to worry, but of course I freak out. At my next appointment, we were able to hear and see it! Everything turned out just fine!

Thanks that helps me a lot but I do know that I worry to much and really have since the miscarriage. I just have never heard that before that you should hear something at 10 weeks is what I have always heard. Thanks again

What the doctor said is absolutely correct - its very common not to hear the heart beat with a doppler until after 12 weeks. 10 weeks really is very early.  In some cases it can take even longer than 12 weeks!  The fact you didnt hear a HB at this gestational age is VERY normal and nothing to be concerned about.  Easier said than done, I know.
