Maybe see if you and dh can take turns during the night to check on him. Like maybe once every hour or so. My kids were throwing up during the day only, and surprisenly stopped at night, and it was just horrid during the day! Haha.... I ended up leaving them naked because I went through a weeks worth of clothes in a day lol...
Or if you can get him right next to you, you should hear it if he does throw up! But I think the humidifier really helps with that as well!
I agree. I also heard the flu is going around and im praying really hard it's not that. I know im coming down with whatever he has, but im not as bad as he is either, unless I just jinxed myself lol.
We will see....im terrified to go to bed with him throwing up, I feel like if he does throw up he will choke in it or asperate it in his lungs which can cause nemonia(sp).
Uhg Im just a PPD mess right now lol.
Unfortunately this cold that he has is going around! My kids had it but with fevers over 103 each... And then I got it lol But the humidifier will help tons! And a bath helps too!
YAY pink eye is better whoo! :-) I hope he gets better quick!
Well He is getting a bit worse. He has vomitted twice....and a lot of it. He is gagging everytime he ate his formula....very fussy, coughing and sneezing a whole lot. I went and got Pedialyte to keep him hydrated, he isn't running a fever, so I have turned my humidifier which turns out to be a cool mist one which is good, I turned it on full blast for right now just to get the room humidified, I propped up his mattress with a mattress wedge, gave him some infants tylenol and he is finally sleeping.....but not for long lol.
If he gets worse I will be taking him to the ER. I notified my doctor just to let him know, and we made an appointment for Friday if he isn't any better.
On a better note....his pink eye is 100% healed up...no more gunk or crusties. Id much rather deal with the pink eye then my baby being sick with a cold. :(
Use a humidifier do NOT use a vaporizer when Aspen was sick at 3 weeks the doctor said to put her right next to it and hang a sheet like a tent over her and the humidifier so that she would be getting all the cool clean air. If congestion gets to be too much for him take him into the bathroom and steam it up and rub his back to break up everything. If he wont eat its ok to give him pedialyte since he needs to stay hydrated.
I think it would work just as well! If the room is to hot to begin with then it may not work....but i'd try it
DS had lots of colds since he was born in the middle of winter. I always found that sitting in the bathroom with a hot shower running helped the best. You are doing everything else right..keep a humidifier where he is sleeping, just don't keep it too close to his bed so his sheets don't get wet. You could also try and get him to sleep on an incline so that the congestion can drain down. If you put blankets or a pillow UNDER his mattress at the top where his head is that should work good. Not too much though ;)
All I have is a warm mist humidifier....Will it work just as well?
Cool Air humidifier helps with cough, sore throat and congestion!
Julian has a cold as well and the doctor said a cool mist humidifier....Ihope he feels better soon!
Thanks Ladies. I just wish there was more I could do to comfort him. I hope it doesn't last very long. Hubby and I are tired lol. I seem to have the same cold coming on. I have a sore throat, and my head is pounding!
UHG!
:( aww. riley got sick at a month or two and now he has a cold again!!! I feel your pain. sorry i can't help you. ugh. just know you SURE aren't the only one. He got it from family members we visited last week, two babies and both were sick, one with a cough one with runny nose, he got BOTH, and now the poor baby is miserable! His daddy's got it, too.
You're doing all the right things. You can use a humidifier, I recommend Vicks. Or you can also run the shower really hot and sit in the bathroom with the steam. That will break up the congestion. Give tylenol when baby is uncomfortable, use the saline nose drops and suck out as much mucous as you can. It's just got to run it's course. Watch for fever. Poor lil guy, it's so sad when they are sick, especially that young.
