Hospital Bag Must Haves

Many of us tend to forget one or a few items when packing our hospital bag. I for one have had to do it four times that I have almost a fool proof way of making my hospital stay as comfortable as possible and I wanted to share this with you and hope it helps you in any way. I too would like to hear about other things you can come up with that may help me.

The bag itself
any medications (even your prenatal vitamins, if you plan to breastfeed and helps with post partium blood loss)
try your best to get everything trial size
mouth wash
baby hospital picture clothes
baby book for footprints
sugarless candy for diabetics
stop watch for contractions
snacks for late hour delivery
soft large towel
hemorrhoid cream if you suffer from this during pregnancy
hair dryer if hospital doesn't have one (call and check, it'll be one less thing to bring)
Long distance calling card if needed
car seat
Binky if you don't like the hospital type (I like NUK the most because it's shaped like a breast nipple-great if breastfeeding)
pen, small notepad
video camera, charger wire, blank DVD and make sure it's charged prior to bringing
comfy shoes/sneakers
robe
deodorant
floss
pre admittance forms
birth plan
mints
make a copy of each: (insurance card, ID, and healthcare provider numbers, phone book)
pillow
breast pads
books/mag/any reading material
focal point object
lollipops
lip balm/chapstick
music
clothes for hubby, toiletries
night gowns that can open in front for breastfeeding
make up
cell phone and an extra charger for hospital
baby hats to help shape head and keep baby warm (I like to put away the hospital one for memories)
wipes for baby (the hospitals I've gone to don't provide any and expect you to use wet gauze to wipe the baby)
socks for me
tweezers
after birth coming home outfit
panties
socks for baby (i like to put lotion around ankles because of the alarm they put on them and it cuts their skin so the lotion and socks keep the band from cutting and helps soothe the dry peeling skin)
slippers
razor for me and hubby
scrunches, headband, hair clips, hair claws
bra
tums if you suffer from heartburn
bar of soap (i hate using the liquid they give me)
toothbrush
toothpaste
pads for bleeding (some hospital give ones with no sticky back and it sucks trying to keep it still)
Tylenol for hubby and me
receiving blankets
t shirts for baby
2 baby outfits-- sleepers are best-- to come home in just in case they dirty one before leaving
nail clipper for you and baby or baby mittens so they don't scratch their face
hair brush/comb
hair products
shampoo
conditioner
gum
camera
money for vending machines
hand sanitizer for you and guest before touching baby
Now keep in mind, some moms wont need all these things, it's a reminders of things that may be needed
Post other things that may help

heyy I'm proud of myself, I had all of those things that apply to  me. That's a long list, it doesn't seem like I have all that stuff in that little bag.. Haha.
I also added my tracfone that has no minutes on it, I filled the contact list with numbers of friends and family that I will want to call about the baby/delivery. :)

a great place to get a lot of stuff is at the dollar store or those family discount stores because why spend extra bucks on things you just need for a couple to a few days right? I love the trial size stuff because of all the space I save and so my bag wont weigh a ton. If you can find trial size or they're too costly you can buy or use empty smaller containers and fill them with what you need from things in your home. There were times that I had to improvise.

they say to pack 1 month before and some say two weeks before. it depends on your situation. I've had a preterm baby so I already started buying things from now just in case. Normally I would have done it after a baby shower or 1 month before.

When should I start packing?  I have 2 kids already but I feel like packing now will only make the wait longer.  I'm so anxious and I still have 8 wks to go!
