I didnt actually pack my hospital bag until 35 weeks and i had lily at 37. However because i was in and out of hospital i had an emergency bag all ready to go for each time, with a pair of PJ's, socks, toothbrush, hairbrush and a book to read!

all i packed was, well nothing!! hahahaha.. i didnt believe i was in labor, so i had to go home in what i wore there! and i did have one outfit for cole, which he threw up on, so my mom went to the store and bought him another before we left.  and they had diapers and pads and wipes and all that good stuff.. Douche Drew, had to go home and get our toothbrushes, laptop, and camera.. but hes a douche and forgot clothes so he went to walmart and bought a bunch of undies and shorts and shirts, and had to get me some sports bras for my humungous boobies!! :) lol,... hahah i was very unprepared.. so pack pack pack!!! oh and i ate all the hospital snacks, and i got lots of fast food while in there!!!  and lots of Redbull that my brother in law brought me, i cracked one open as soon as cole came out...No Joke!!! lol

I put 34-36 but I don't remember when I packed, it was probably the day before I went into labor (38 weeks) lol. I'm 35 weeks now and I haven't packed anything yet. A lot of the stuff people listed is actually provided by the hospital I'm going to. They have a special snack kitchen with sandwiches and things for moms and dads while they're in the hospital. We also just used the onesies and swaddling blankets they had, we just changed her when it was time to go. Most places have internet access now so you can take your laptop if you use one, you might really want that if you're in labor for a long time. I also took a heating pad (one of those bags filled with rice) the nurse warmed it up in their microwave and I used it the entire time I was in labor. I also think a bathrobe and slippers are a good idea in case you want to walk around! I know someone mentioned this, but bring your own pillow, hospital pillows are not great. And your own shampoo and conditioner, the kind they gave me smelled good but my hair didn't feel clean!

well dependin on th snow and where I am depends on where I give birth now.
So I might take a few diapers and formula and bottles with me I have 6 bottles is that enough? I'll take 3 with me... a small beaker with formula in it... what about wipes Because everywhere Ive read says cotton wool for the first few weeks, same with their baths, No flannels because its rough?

Sudocrem!!

And we have decided only my parents and johns dad is coming to the hosp everyone else can wait only because John has a phobia and I'll get clostraphobic and snap and people... cause i might just be tired after pushing a baby out!! LOL..

but ill take my phone

I think it depends on the hospital and where you are for using your own things. I put Elijah in his clothes I brought with me as soon as I got him in my room (he was in the nursery the first 24 hours). They didn't care, about me using my own things but I did use their diapers since they were free, lol.

Also bring a list of names and numbers of people you want to call after the birth. I would bring baby wipes bc apparently the hospital ones aren't so good (most make you use just plan water and the first poop is SO sticky you need baby wipes or baby oil). If you want music for during labor, chapstick and lotion (hospitals can be dry), insurance info any hospital forms you need, tennis balls or other such things for massages during labor, gatoraide, any meds you take regularly... That's all I can think of to add to the list. Happy packing :)

uhhh.. I never did pack.  I was unprepared, grabbed a few things & then sent friends & fam for stuff.

I was admitted to the hospital on bed rest a few weeks prior to delivery.  Then ended up having a c-section.  Thats my EXCUSE anyway....  That being said, maybe you all should have a bag packed already.

Ima writing it down and gonna stick it to my wall....

great list, Ashelen!  Wow, you're good at this !  Now, where's a pencil so I can write all this down... You'd think by baby #FIVE i'd have this figured out, LOL.

Just want to add that for yourself, bring much larger clothes than you might think you'll be wearing home, LOL.  Like maternity clothes you wore around month 5 or 6, or a loose-fitting comfy dress.

Also, the hopsital usually provides diapers, wipes, onesies, etc. and won't let you use your own, or dress the baby in its own clothes.  So bring just a few things in case you're not going straight home form the hospital.

oh i brought make-up...as my MIL (she was my OB nurse for #2) was setting up for the anesthesiologist to come do my epidural i was doing my hair and makeup...stopping for contractions...then finishing, lol.

warm socks.
baby diapers
lots of onesies in several different sizes and/or sleepers
swaddling blankets
pacifiers if you want them
tooth brush/paste
shampoo/conditioner
a favorite pillow
books
clothes to wear after labor..something very comfy and easy to get to if you still plan to try BFing (no arguments plz in light of what was just going on here on MH..)
lots of extra undies (the "old" kind that you wouldn't mind getting blood on)
pads
a comfy sports bra/nursing bra to wear with nursing pads even if you dont choose to try to BF
bottles if you plan to formula feed
formula of your choice just in case they hospital doesnt have it ( i would call and ask what sort they use)
snacks for you.....mints/lifesavers for during labor
changes of clothing for DH as well as his pillow and toiletries (tooth/hair brush, shampoo, etc)
deodorant
snacks for Dh for labor, and drinks
money for the machines while he's there, and money for him to eat and maybe get you something to eat depending on how long you're there.
anything else special you want/need
anything else you want/need for baby

i cant think of anything else i'm sure i'm missing something...i'm sure someone else will come along and fill it in better for you. i didn't use everything in my bag but some things you just can't do without.

i used all the hopsitals gowns/underwear. you will bleed through your own clothes. i brought a bunch of clothes and didn't use them.
except a sports bra. absolutely necessary for me. snacks for john. laptop for you. thats about it.
