How has the foam worked for you?

Well ladies DH and I got sick of condoms so began using a foam. I want to hear your stories of how it's worked for you?

All we are using is the foam and we used it one time...sO much better! lol. I know this is a pregnancy forum but really I know you all (wierd hu? since we've never met in person) so well.

Did you use the foam correctly?

Any issues with it?

THANKS!

lol...I know about the whole *no sex thing* My poor hubby acts like a drug addict coming off a high if he doesn't get it for 3 days lmao.

A cervical cap maybe easier than a diaphram, but I like the fact that the diaphram can be removed when you done instead of wearing it 24/7. Im not familiar with the cervical cap, my doc doesn't offer that.

sorry if I sound a bit like im in lala land......I took a benedryl lastnight and it seems to *still* be working lmao. My kids were looking at mommy a bit odly this morning as I stumbled around to make them breakfast. The hubby had a VA appointment and will be gone all day, and im worried I may go in labor since he is gone, and I have no way of contacting him...so im a nervous wreck, I am having contractions...and just had one that was quite painful, so we will see.

martika - I am right there with you. I've been married for quite some time and if hubby had to be celibate for longer than a week he'd have a nervous breakdown. No idea what he is going to do for the 6 weeks after this baby is born. Ha, men are so funny.

latrice: lol at the Little hat remark! I was thinking a diaphram was like a cervical cap. I've got to look it up again (BTS remember the post about me educating my stepsister..) so much on my mind to really remember it.

I know nothing is %100 effective, and I'm young but I'm married (3 yrs! woot! ) so no sex just isn't happening. lol. Dh would die first!

I figure if I get preggo it's meant to be. as long as I'm healthy and the pregnancy is healthy. (I'm ok if my next one has the skin problem too just no other problems!! or I think I may adopt the 3rd)

I am trying the foam a bit differently. I use it before BD'ing and after, just in case there wasnt enough to kill the sperm or the lube (it's not supposted to interfere with foam) does mess with the effectiveness.

You can also ask your dr for a cervical cap. They have to measure your cervix for it. It goes right over the cervix(like a little hat),as we all no, no method is 100% effective except no sex. So with all the methods you still risk getting preggo, the % jus may vary from method to method.

Martika- The female condom is really easy to use, just as easy as a male condom, but it's conveniance(sp) is better. Most men can't apply their protection until fully aroused, but you can insert yours in the evening before dinner, and have at it lol after dinner. It works like a suction cup to your cervix. You have the same sensual skin to skin feeling, but the same protection as a male condom. Like I said, it can be a bit messy, but to have a nice night of uninterupted love making is well worth it.

Mumita- I hope like heck this is my last one lmao. Don't get me wrong, I love my babies but I just can't physically or emotionally handle another pregnancy. IF we were to have another child, hubby wants to adopt a baby girl, that way we are ensured to have a daughter instead of having 4 boys running around the house lol. I am also thinking of having a tubal ligation, especially if I end up with a c-section the doc will go ahead and do it.

Martika- Bummer, I've never had children but my doctor never hessitated on the IUD,  my cousin just had a baby with her second c-section and also got one, your doctor is probably being extra careful.

BTS, are you sure that this is your last baby?  Got pregnant every time with all sorts of BC plus husband having a vasectomy, you sure that his vasectomy will hold after you give birth?  I have a 7 year old brother that was born 3 years after my dad had a vasectomy....;)

Thank you BTS: Got a question.... Is the diaphram any easier than a male condom..> I HATE those things (so does he) and we had been using them.. .But we both hates how it makes things feel, even if its' the "extra sensative... warming... etc."

Thanks!

I have used the foam once, Im allergic to latex, and the sheepskin condoms su ck. The foam caused me extreme burning internally and externally, Im very sensitve down there, I even have to be careful what soap or shaving cream I use or I burn and break out really bad. I have also tried the gels, and they caused me to break out too. Hubby and I used the PO method for a while, but he has nuclear sperm lol hence how im preggers with Conner after DH got snipped and I was on depo lol.

I to don't like BC, I never had an issue with Depo except the fact that it caused me to have a ministroke because im a smoker. I had a blod clot travel from my arm up into my jugular, but it luckily broke apart before reaching anything else in my body, so that pretty much scared me away from BC all together.

I have al gotten pregnant with all my children while on BC lol. My daughter was concieved on the Pill, my Oldest son was concieved with an IUD(its possible) my youngest son was concieved with the ortho-evera patch, and Conner with Depo lmao. I don't think they have a BC out there that can keep my mans swimmers from gettin their *goal* lol.

I don't need to take BC now that hubby is fixed and we just found out that it did work!

I do however reccomend the womans diaphram(condom), it's easy to insert and take out...although a tad messy, but the cream and spermicide isn't that harsh, and they even have a sensitive skin gel you can get at the OB's. I only used it twice when hubby came home from iraq for a 2 week break after I had my youngest son.

Mumita and everyone: I wanted an IUD but my OBGYN won't do it til I've had 2 children at least because of the risk of scarring and porforation, esp. since I had a csection and it's a bit more risky of porforation with one (due to the scar)
here's why I won't get on BCP's or the DEPO or ring again:

BCP's are out of the question for me due to weight gain. I put on 50 lbs with the depo shot and had the shot 3 yrs. I put the weight on in the first year and I'm just now losing about 30 lbs of it (I bumped to an all time high of 192 around my wedding date a year and a half after getting on it. Dropped to 160-ish from getting food poisioning nand the flu back to back, and then gained to 177 with the Nuvaring) I'm now 175 or under..

My obgyn suggested nuvaring because it's got REALLY low hormones in it less than the Minipill even. Well over 3 months I put about 10-15lbs and didn't change my eating habits so it was the BC.

I told hubby if he doesn't want a fat wife I am not getting back on BCP's. I also get migraines anywayse and it makes them worse.

I BF'd for 1 month and literally when my son was 1mo1day old my milk dried up completely because he was in the NICU and couldn't latch right due to low muscle tone. I just got off my period yesterday... So i'm also going to use NFP method by charting, CM, Temping, and such.

I used that  method great for 2 mo. then the 3rd mo. dh wanted to play without a condom or PO method 3 days before I ovulated and little TJ was born!

Sorry if it's TMI!

I used it and like it but it started causing me to have a lot of vaginal infections.  I would only use it during my fertile time and it worked great for months but as I said, I started having a lot of infections and had to stop.  But as far as pregnancy went, it worked for me.  And I am very fertile.  I have 5 kids and 4 of those in 6 years time, so it worked great for me as far as avoiding pregnancy.

What I highly recommend anyone is a copper IUD.  You don't feel it, no mess, no interruptions and your fertility comes back immediately after you get it taken out.  I had it for two years and it was great. No side effects whatsoever.  And its 99% effective
I really hate foams, gels condoms etc.  The chemicals they use irritate me down there and the foam gets really sticky after a few minutes.

Well, of course its a better feeling, but it is not 100% for protection. Its usually recommended as a back up method for condoms if they break. After my m/c, we used condoms and the foam. It s-ucked big time. Im not sure of your reason for the foam, are you trying to prevent pregnancy?  Just think, foam has spermicide in it, it only takes one sperm to fertilize an egg, what if 10 sperms make it threw the foam or its a slight area where the foam is not and the sperm goes that way. I wouldnt just use the foam, i no a lot of people who used it and got preggo, and i no some people who used it and didnt. I wish you much luck.
