How long after D&C, will it take to concieve again?

November 2007 I had a miscarriage and D&C. I has been about 5 Months and well no baby yet. I thought I would be pregnant by now as we havent used any birth control what so ever! I have been having the strangest cravings. Alot of caffeine and chocolate. Just last month I had a pregnancy test that was negative, but all the symptoms were there. The doctor said that maybe I took the test too early and to wait a few weeks and retest. Well aunt Flow rolled in on (my period) 4/17 and it was pretty heavy and painful. Which they have been for the last 4months. Why is it taken so long to concieve?

yes, tissue could be left over. i'm not an expert on any of this but when i had my m/c, my doc made me come in every other day until my beta hCG dropped way down. she also gave me an antibiotic incase of infection. that's the reason they have to make sure to get all the tissue out. if not, an infection could set up and it might be dangerous. however, you would know if you had an infection cuz you would be very ill, i assume.

then there is the possibility that you do not have any tissue left over. in some cases it's just a waiting game. i had a m/c 3 years ago and i have been trying to conceive for a little over a year now. so far, no luck. sometimes it just takes longer than we'd like. hang in there...you'll get your baby all in good time! and if you think something could be wrong or if you would feel more comfortable talking to your doctor, i encourage you to do so.

Thats a good idea. Do you think tissue would be left over after all this time (5months)? Anyway thanks

I can't say anything cause I never got mine checked either =P  Have you mentioned what's going on to you doctor? They may want to check to see if there is tissue left over, or may be able to give you a better idea of what's going on.

Well, No i havent had HcG levels checked since I started my period.

It all depends on the woman. There are people on here who conceived within a couple weeks of their D&C and others like you have taken longer. I assume you have had your levels checked (HcG levels) to make sure they are 0.
