I have a Freakin Cold....Help with meds?

Okay, so I have nasal congestion and watery eyes, with a sore throat. Now my doc said I can only take Mucinex DM or Robitussin DM. The Mucinex DM is just for couging, and im not coughing so it isn't working. Walmart didnt carry the Robitussin I needed so im stranded. I have been using the saline nose spray, but once again it ain't working.

Why can I not take Tylenol Cold or Tylenol Sinus? Im so fed up with this cold, that im half tempted to take the other meds instead.

Anyone else's doc reccomend a safe cold medicine?

BTS It's good that they're treating you for your sinus infection. I forgot to mention when I was earlier on in pregnancy, I got a cold that turned into a sinus infection. I have had them before so knew the symptoms. The doctor put me on antibiotics and within 3-4days I began feelin much better!

Well I called the doctor and he made me an appointment today, and I have a severe sinus infection. So he showed me how to clean out my sinuses and put me on some antibitotics. Soo I should be feeling better in a few days thank goodness.

I have been taking the cherry Halls cough drops, but the menthol in them makes my stomach upset. Im leary to take any meds if the doc says I can't. But I don't understand is why other pregger women can take Sudafed and Tylenol cold and I can't.

I can deal with the sore throat it's the congestion thats killing me. I have a congestion headache, my teeth hurt because im sooo stuffed up, and I have literally gone through 5 boxes of kleenex with the vicks in it.

I give up lol. Im gonna call and see why I can't take any of those meds.

ok, well i can't find a good list...  but here's a link to storknet that has a couple things you can take.  rememebr you can always take cough drops...  how about using cough drops and sudafed?

Yes i would ring the doctor and ask why you cant take them and tell him that you are fed up and tired and that you need something to help you get better and fast! Hope you feel better real soon

I feel the same way, I want a list lol. We should all get a list. Uhg im miserable. I think I will call the doc back and ask him WHY im not supposed to take tylenol cold or tylenol sinus.

i was told sudafed was ok as long as its not drowsy formula...everyone has a diff opinion though.

Well I called in all the meds I had in my medicine cabinet and Tylenol cold was one of them, along with sudafed PE. Im just so give out tired because I can't sleep when im congested. I always wake myself up by snoring lol or when the (TMI) snot starts running out of my nose.

UHG! I wish docs would make up their minds on what I could take. Im desperate.

you are supposed to be able to take any tylenol products while prego!  on the med sheet my doc always gave me tylenol cold was on there.  i didn't get a cold w/ my recent pregnancy but w/ the one before that i did and that's what i took.

So many docs are so different. My step sister is allowed to take Tylenol severe cold, and tylenol severe sinus, she can also take Mucinex, Robitussin, pretty much whatever she wants so long as it doesnt have aspirin in it.

DH got me those nose thingies, you put them on your nose, and they open your passages so you can sleep better, but they only work for about 4 hours and are a son of a gun to get off, my nose is all red and swollen lol.

Im just sooooo fed up on being sick, maybe I will take some benydryl before bed tonight and see how that helps. I also only took 1 Mucinex instead of the reccomended 2, im not keen on taking meds if I dont have to, but this head cold is sending me into a whirl wind.

wow, I'm suprised. My doctor said NO Mucinex DM and only Robitussin.

Take some Tylenol, other than that double check w/the doctor, I know how horrible it is for the congestion. Benadryl also helped me to dry up a little.

(if you take Unisom or walmart brand, it's just benadryl but a different formulation that'll  let you sleep. It  helped me to sleep and dried me up a little)

There's also breathing in steam from hot water to clear you out.
