I ovulated this morning.. how long does it last?

I used a strip at about 10 this morning and it was positive for ovulation and i had the cm to go with it. I had cramps and pain in the left ovary. We bd'd last night at about 4 and will this afternoon around the same time. Is there a chance I just completely missed my chance of getting pregnant?

This website has a lot of good info on OPK's. Everything I have researched on them states that you ovulate between 12-48 hours after your LH surge (positive opk). I think the reason that this is debatable is because LH is the hormone that triggers the mature follicle to burst forth. Either way, once you get the positive OPK bd for up to two days afterwards. You don't have to go every other day if your partner has a normal sperm count, but it will allow it to build back up like Clysta said.

Having sex every night isn't bad, but for best results you want to every other day. This gives time for everything to build back up. Good luck.

I was having cramping and sharp pain in my left ovary which i'm assuming was ovualtion. the ovulation strip came back where the line was darker then the control line. We have been bding every night. I'm guessing that's not the best thing. UGH wish I had known that before hand. Thank you ladies i'm hoping this is my month!! I get up at 6am thats when my daughter wakes up.

the positive is when you have an LH surge which is when the egg releases so you do not O two days after a positive! THat is impossible! When the dr checks for your progesterone which kicks in after you O is 1-2 days after you O. Where did you hear that info?? Very wrong

Also I wrote the boy/girls factors which are all correct but like I put there are many things to consider what it could be and no real way to know for sure with 100%. It is fun to know the facts like that though;) And yes the morning is not the best time as it takes 4 hours for the LH to get to your urine, some have short spikes and can have a + at night in the evening then it be neg in the morning so if you continue to have a neg it is good to also check around 8pm. ALso it is good not to pee for at least three hours before you check as that can effect it also. I get up at 5-6am so 10 is when I would test but it does depend on when you get up.

I charted my bbt and had sex the day of O and conceived a girl. So those methods are unreliable at predicting the sex. Also, you should be testing your OPK's in the afternoon from 2-6pm...not in the morning as the LH is higher during this time.

Anyways, if you think you may have ovulated, you should have sex the day of and the day after. Also shoot for the day before. We bd every other day when ttc as too much bd can lower sperm count.

the egg lives for 24 hours and it could of just released right before you got your positive or right after you took the test yesterday. My RE said to bd every other day, no more then three times a week and the day of and day after my +OPK. So you should be good to go! If a guy doe snot let it go enough the sperm can be dead as it only regenerates every three days and too much he can "shoot blanks" Sperm can live for up to 5 days in good CM. SO in all actuality a woman can bd and not O till 5 days later then still get pregnant. Girl sperm live longer and boy sperm swim faster, as why woman who only BD or are really trying according to OPK's and BBT's tend to have boys. WIth that said tight undies for men kill off boy sperm and not girl sperm so guys that take hot showers, get in hot tubs and wear tighty whities tend to have girls as apposed to men that wear boxers, take warm showers etc and "keep it loose" tend to have boys.

Don't worry you did nto miss it! Timing things can tend to lead to not having fun with it too!!! So don't put to much of the statistics in the bedroom. Sending baby dust your way!!
