I'm having a hard time deciding.....

Ok so my last 2 children I breastfed so this wasn't a huge concearn for me, but this time around I am bottle feeding only. My question is What kind of bottles should I buy? I want somthing that decreases air, so its better on her tummy. I've been looking around and here are some I have found. Any help would be great :)

I used for pumped milk, playtex or something, they have an air thing on the bottom of the bottom, that when you tilt the bottle to the babies mouth, the air pushes out the bottom.  My husband said it worked wonders, they never had gas from it, they rarely even burped.  Of course, they rarely burp with breastmilk but still.

My daughter uses the Dr. Browns bottles and they are AWESOME.  My granddaughter has not had any bouts of gas and she is over 6 months old now.  As for cleaning them, we just boil them each night and they are ready to go.

The drop-ins are nice (I used them with my kids back in the 80's, but it is an added expense that you incur.

Well, no medical reason really. I am in the final year of my BSN program and I will have to go back to clinicals the following week after the delivery. I will have my third section so that makes me nervous enough. I won't be able to pump during that 12 hour shift, I will be on light light duty, more less I just have to be there to get my hours in to graduate. So I think this is best for my situation. I researched it alot, and of course we all know there is nothing as good as breast feeding (mainly for immunities) for baby, but after the first 2 weeks she will develope her own immunities anyways. As far as nutrients I am confident that she will get what she needs from the formula.

We used Platex drop ins for the boys, I just thought they were at times messy, I was leaning towards Avent, the Dr. Browns seem like they would be hard to clean. They have straw like things in them, makes me nervous for bacteria if traces get left behind.

Thanks guys

I say drop ins most deffinatly!  They are the best on their tummies to get rid of all the gas because it keeps air out.

i tried the avent ones w/ my oldest and didn't like them.  i ended up using the playtex drop-ins w/ all  of my dds and none of them ever had gas issues.

Avent! My kids never had gas issues. I love the breast-like nipples, too, because baby will actually drink as though nursing from a breast which is better for strengthening their jaws when it comes time to eat real food.

And Malia (alaysha) is right. If you don't have the nipple in right it will leak but it is fixable. You'll get the hang of it really fast.

I personally love the Avent bottles. I used them from Aspen's birth and never really had a problem with gas or colic and it was easy to switch between breastfeeding and bottle feeding (not that it is a major concern for you). Only complaint is that sometimes the bottles leak if you do not put on the lid correctly. But I think that happens with most bottles. Plus I love that the bottles start out small (4oz) and then get bigger (9oz).
