I'm so nauseated I could cry!

So I'm about 8 weeks now and the all day "morning" sickness is really setting in! I broke down and took some Zofran today after eating made the nausea worse (it would usually help). And all I've done today is sit on the couch and nap, I did manage to get the dogs bathed and that took about all my energy. It's been a rough couple weeks! I found out I had a bladder infection, then had an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin they put me on -- broke out in hives all over and my left hand swelled so bad that I went back to urgent care for prednisone cause I couldn't stand the pain/itching/stinging anymore.Got a new antibiotic for the bladder infection. I'm finally back to just my zoloft and prenatals, but now I feel bad that I've been on so many meds so early in my pregnancy. But I don't know if I'll be able to do it without the zofran! 12 hour night shifts at work taking care of laboring patients do not go well when you feel like you are going to throw up on the patient. I'm really hoping this will get better in the 2nd trimester, but so many people have told me they had it much longer; including my sister who said she was nauseous until 6 months! Guess I'm just looking to vent, could use some words of encouragement though :) I've tried all the home remedies: ginger, seabands with not much luck; the thought of ginger now makes me sick too.

I'm 30 and 9 weeks pregnant. I'm married but we fight allll the time,so we prefer to stay away from each other specially during my preg period,he wanted a baby so bad, although our relation isn't ok at all.i was expecting some changes in his attitude after the good news, but unfortunately he became more selfish and rude...now I feel so sad, because I don't want my baby to live with all the negativity, with all the troubles we have!no real love,no peace,no honesty.. nothing positive:( all this stuff make me feel more sick in addition to my horrible all day nausea!! I'm alone and dunno what to do!my parents are divorced and no one of them is here so I can talk to,i only have my younger sis around who has no background or some experience wth pregnancy!feel so sick and lonely! The all day morning sickness is Killin me!can do nothing not even go to work!plus I have a very important seminar in 3 weeks which requires to travel and to be in a great mood to focus and that really stressed me out!! Dunno if I can do it and how to control the horrible nausea!so depressed!

So I finally threw up today, yuck! Although I have to admit I felt a little better for about an hour after. I think it was the combo of the bitterness of the zofran in my mouth (I didn't drink anything after taking it; it dissolves in your mouth) and then I brushed my teeth that put me over the edge. Trying to stay positive, that this means things are going good, but I'm counting down the weeks until that second trimester!

Amoxicillin is the preferred choice of antibiotic for a bladder infection while you're pregnant, I've had numerous docs tell me. It's a very safe antibiotic during pregnancy, we give it to moms who are group beta strep positive in labor. The nice thing is I work with the midwives I see, so I can always bend someone's ear at work! Although, I don't want to sound like too much of a whiner, lol! To get the zofran, all I had to do was call the midwives and ask, I had seen them previously, so they just called the Rx into the pharmacy for me. I'm not worried about Zofran being addictive, I know it's not, I just feel bad that I've been on so many meds so early in pregnancy. Although my coworkers keep reassuring me it's okay. Thanks for the other suggestions, everyone!!

Oh n why did the doc put u on amoxycillin for a bladder infection? I wouldn't take anything but suprex for a bladder infection while I'm preg! Pyrimidine is what they would normally prescribe if ur not preg.. But.. Amoxycillin? Why...
And u don't need a prescription for anti-nauseants like gravol or motion sickness tabs.. Just buy them in the aisle at like shoppers drug mart or safeway or something like that.

Try gravol?? Or diclectin.. Although diclectin u need a prescription for. But gravol helped me.. U can also get natural sourse gravol (it has Ginger in it but doesn't taste like it.. It's just non-drowsy). Not sure what it is called if ur in the states.. Ur healthcare system is kinda screwy down there.. But just go to emergency if it's real bad. That's what I did. I didn't keep anything down for over 24 hours so my boyfriend took me to emergency n we got in in 15 muns cuz I'm pregnant n they flushed me with iv and gave me an anti-nauseant and wrote a prescription for diclectin. I'm at 12.5 weeks n I feel much better now but I took my diclectin everyday n I was fine.

Don't worry about dependence.  It is not addictive type drug.  You will only take it if you need it.  Once you don't, you will not have to take it.  But I must warn you....it does cause constipation.  So make sure to take a stool softener too.  I always tell people to talk to your doc first but I know they are safe  but of course, still talk to your doc first.  I know Benefiber is safe too.  I know just ginger does not sound good, but try some ginger tea flavored with something else like peach.  You can drink it hot or cold and it is also refreshing when it is super hot out.  And where I am from, it is super HOT out right now.

I was the same with my medicine. I have HG which has been a nightmare, and I've had to live on phenergan since I was 13 weeks. (I'm 36 weeks now and finally not needing to use it so much) Zofran didn't do anything for me. I hated the idea that I needed to take it so often, but I couldn't eat without it. (I could barely even eat with it but that's beyond the point) the nausea should start to diminish around 12-20 weeks. You need to be your best so your body can take care of your baby. (this is how my midwife reasoned with me when I said I hated feeling dependant on my medicine) just remember it won't last forever. Another thing you might try if you haven't is lemon. I've heard it's supposed to work well for nausea. (nothing worked for me but the medicine so I can't speak from experiance) good luck!

Thanks for the support and tips! Especially the one about peppermint ice cream, I hadn't thought of that and I love it! Zofran is a prescription med for nausea, I took it earlier and it helped, I just don't want to have to depend on it if at all possible. I don't think my anxiety about t he nausea returning helps.

I get this really bad too.  It is horrible when it gets this bad.  This last time, I would literally get up in the middle of the night just to throw up.  I ended up in the hospital for 3 days getting IV fluids.  I took the anti-nausea drugs as well and I can't say it helped me but I was willing to try anything.  I even tried an anti-nausea medication that is sometimes given to chemo patients.  I swear, I can't believe I have done this 6 times :)  Try some peppermint ice cream.  Drinking milk made me more sick but the ice cream was somewhat refreshing.  I know it's  very hard.  I mean this part really stinks.  For me, it is completely gone by the time I am 16 weeks.  For others, it is 10 weeks or 12 or 13 weeks.  It varies from woman to woman.  Some women don't get it at all.  Don't worry about you necessarily having it for longer because your sister did.  My mom didn't get any nausea whatsoever or any of the other text book symptoms of pregnancy.  She said hers were a breeze.  Mine, however, are not!  LOL!  Hang in there though.  You will  get  past this.  The 2nd trimester is the best and most enjoyable for most.  It is after the sickness and before you get huge and uncomfortable, so enjoy that when you get there.  Good luck!  I really do feel for you....

You can always contact your doctor and see if they can prescribe you anti-nausea drugs. I was given some in my first trimester because I felt horrible all day long and they worked amazingly!
