thanks ladies....then I will be contacting them whenever I get a BFP.. That will be great b/c I will get to see the doctor I want and everything. Now I just need to get pregnant. LOL....yeah here in augusta there are soooo many people who abuse the system. Like they will be on medicaid, food stamps, having child after child and refusing to work...it drives me crazy....then when people like my hubby and i who are actaully trying 1/2 the time they won't give it to them.
Rachie: I'm in Georgia too...I don't know if you're son was born here or how long go but but here they have a different medicaid for pregnant women...That's what I have...with right from the start medicaid i have NO copays even for hospital stay whereas with regular medicaid I did. I'm not offered insurance through my work becuase it's a very small company...and my (soon to be AGAIN) ex won't get it becuase it's too expensive...
Yes, you can have private insurance AND Medicaid. I think Medicaid likes it, too, because your primary insurance will pay (usually 80%) and then they pay what's leftover (which is considerably less than the original bill).
I definitely don't want to abuse the system either, so instead of cancelling my insurance, I've been building it up in the meantime!
Medicaid let you have Medicaid and your own insurance? I was wondering about that. I deff. qualify for Medicaid while I'm pregnant but I don't like to get on something like that in less I need to. With my son I was on it b/c I was 16 and he most certainly wasn't planned lol..then with the surprise pregnancy this summer we had to had to get on it . But with the next pregnancy it will be planned so I deff. want to get my own insurance but I wouldn't mind having both if they would let me. I would like to put it all on my insurance and if they didn't cover something uses Medicaid to cover it. I guess each state is different. I am going to check on it though.
Oh, I guess I could add that with my 2nd daughter I had Medicaid and they pay 100% unless there is something not covered. For instance, my daughter's collarbone was broken at birth and Medicaid didn't pay anything pertaining to that (my reg. insurance, BCBS did).
Ahhhhhhh... insurance! Gotta love it (SARCASM)
I have Aetna Health and they pay 100% and it covers everything related to my maternity. I do however have to pay my yearly deductable of $2500.
Mine is free...prenatal care, check-ups, ultrasounds, delivery is all free. I have medi-Cal which runs through the county, so luckily it's free. I had Kaiser, but I didn't have a good experience with them, plus I would be coming out the pocket with everything so I chose medi-Cal.
Well my bill was actually closer to $7,000 but with insurance, we only paid about $2000 like everyone else.
thanks ladies....I guess we better start saving :)
I wish I had insurance!! I have to pay 3,300.00 for the birth. That includes, the birth, pre-natal visits, and post-partum care...but still! I pray I do not have to go to the hospital for anything, I hear it could be 10 grand or more. Yikes!! My husband tried to get me insurance, but wouldn't take effect until 18 months later....and they won't give pregnant women insurance (i think that's stupid). So after I have this baby, my husband is going to try to get me insurance! We need to find a good company.
It depends on your plicy. What's your deductible? Coinsurance? You can go to the UHC website and it has a cost calculator based on your policy. For my normal delivery, I paid about $2000.00 to $2500.00 out of pocket total. I had a $500.00 deductible then 80/20 plan for up to $2000.00.
My brother has United Health Care and last year his son's bills were about $2000 dollars for delivery and all related costs. That is why I don't care much for United Healthcare. They only cover a certain percentage depending on your coverage selections. My health insurance pays for EVERYTHING except for $150 copay but I have excellent health insurance. My guess is if you have United, you will probably acrrue a similar hospital bill but your best bet would be to call United directly.
the delivery of my son cost $2500....that was including sedation, epidural and pitosun (since i was induced)...i had no severe complications...
