Is This A Boy?

My cousin is 14.5 weeks pregnant and when she had her ultrasound Monday they said they were 95% sure it was a boy. At first glance I did too bc of the triangle, but then I noticed that it sorta extends outward. So then I wasn't sure whether the cord was between the baby's legs or not. I had a girl and we didn't find out until 18 weeks, so I'm shocked that places even check that area that early. What do you ladies think?

I got an ultrasound at like 14 weeks (might have been the end of 13 weeks) and they said they were 80% positive I was having a boy. Got another ultrasound at 18 weeks and it was a girl. I think its too early to tell and it looks to me like an umbilical cord.

That is kind of hard to tell. Why do doctors check so early?? I definitely wouldn't be so sure until another scan at 20w. I found out at 18w and even that was kind of iffy and they weren't 100% sure even then. Then a few weeks later we got another peek and I swore my lil girl turned into a boy...lol. Thankfully it was confirmed by 3D/4D and she's still a girl. haha
14w is a bit early. Let us know when she gets it confirmed!

My sister had an u/s done at 17 weeks and they were convinced she was having a girl.  Went back at 25 weeks and it was a boy.  I think 14.5 weeks is a little too early.  I went at 18 weeks and they were surprised that they could tell I was having a boy because usually it is clear cut around 20 weeks.

It could be swollen labia, too. I see three lines. Way too early.

To me it looks like a boy...everything between the buttcheeks is kinda murky, and that's how it was for my son because of the testicles - with a girl it's usually so definitive, you know?

I wouldn't guarantee it and I would hold off on buying things, but I really think that's a boy. i think the umbilical cord happens to be near and above the penis like Clysta said...and I think down near the right leg is baby's hand (typical boy behavior, lol)...and I think above the hand and below the left thigh, you're looking at a penis.

The picture is almost to dark to see anything really.

Hmmm..maybe it really is a boy and the umbilical cord is over the top of the penis and that's why we see what we do. Looking at it again I think I can finally tell everything apart.

I'm with you, Amy. I feel like it's the umbillical cord. I'll definitely keep everyone posted in a few weeks when they repeat her ultrasound. I hope they don't buy anything just yet, but they're convinced it's a boy.

Yeah this is really difficult to tell. I honestly think it's the umbilical cord. It extends directly to the left. It doesn't look like a clear boy shot to me at all. Please update us when she gets another ultrasound. I'm interested in hearing if they were right or wrong.

They have an arrow pointing to the "penis," but if that is what we're looking at, what is the thing just past it that makes it look like it just keeps on going? Idk...I know most people want to know the sex as soon as possible, but why tell people that early?

Ew that's difficult to tell. I don't think I'd even make a guess myself. It's really hard to tell what's a leg and what might be something else.

I honestly can't tell anything from this picture. I am with you, my dr's office doesn't even check till 20 wks, so I think it is just to early to tell for sure.
