Just had my first ultrasound!

Hi Ladies, I just got back from my appointment. I went in with the ultrasound tech first and she did a transvaginal ultrasound. We could see the sac and a little dot on the left side of it. She is assuming it is the yolk sac but can't say for sure. I am 5 weeks, 4 days so my EDD is confirmed at 9/9/10. She told me that the sac is measuring at 6 weeks but they have a differential of + or - 10 days. After the ultrasound I met with my doctor. She said the ultrasound looks perfect for how far along I am. She changed my next ultrasound from 1/29 to 1/22 so we can hopefully see the heartbeat sooner! She cannot find any reason for the spotting I experienced last week. I got a new prescription for prenatals and they drew more blood to test the HCG level and I will get the results tomorrow. I am praying they are over 20,000. All in all it was a very good visit and I'm excited to get the results tomorrow.
Oh and I got a picture which I'll post as soon as I can!

So glad that everything is okay!  Sunkissed is pretty much right. Alot of the reading that I have done (my DH and I are trying) says that a cyst forms in the beginning of pregnancy and eventually goes away, I think around the 12th week?  I wish you a happy and health nine months!

Thank you girls! I never thought that the cyst could be the cause for the spotting. That makes me feel much better that it wasn't anything too serious.

Thanks!!

Yay! That's great news! The cyst most likely was the cause of the spotting bc they can fill up w blood bc everything is so vascular during pregnancy! Congrats on seeing your little one!

Thanks! I meant to add the doctor told me they found a small cyst on my right ovary but she said it's normal. She said this is how pregnancy's begin? Is this true?

YAY! Congrats!  I'm glad everything looks ok.  With my last pregnancy my first ultrasound at 5 wks 3 days only showed the gestational and yolk sacs....exactly 3 weeks later we saw a perfect fetal pole and heart just beating away.  He's now 17 months old :)  Unfortunately I now won't get an ultrasound until FEb 9th :(  it seems like FOREVER away, BUT I should have the results of my HCG and Progesterone tomorrow or the next day!
