My phone is being silly.. I wrote you back an e mail.. let me know if you got it or not!
Your right, Klonopin is one of those that have to be weaned off depending on the doseage. The OP did mention she'd already quit taking and I am assuming she's been off it at least a couple weeks. if she hasn't had any problems, then she could have been on a low enough doseage that she was able to get off......
I think it's great that there's someone else on the forum with experience (you) who can help her out if needed. :)
I was on klonopin 7 months prior to this pregnancy.. my doctor weaned me off of it because i had quit taking it pre pregnancy once cold turkey and had a seizure.. anyways.. i would definately talk with your doctor. i'm now twelve weeks along and some days fight panic but your doctor should be very understanding. i know my doctor wanted me off of it immediately. i'm hear if you need to chat.. i only have the internet via mobile web so can only view somethings which ***** but you can write me a message and i should get it.. hang in there!
That would be a good idea, it won't hurt anything. :) Simply cause I have a son with trisome 21 (down syndrome) I always take 2 or 3mg of folic acid on top of my vitamin when pregnant just in case.
In my mind if I can do something to prevent a problem I want to. (just like spacing out my childrens vaccinations for the MMR one)
Thanks for your quick answer. Yes I am taking the prenatal vitamins, Maybe I should double up on the Folic Acid just for a few days to compensate for the klonopin I took. Thanks
Hey, Klonopin is something you want to be careful with during pregnancy.
are you taking folic acid? if not you need to be, in addition to a prenatal. Take 1000mcg's which = 1mg of folic acid and you can buy it at walmart or any other store like that.
Women who need to take meds that can cause neural tube defects are told to take 3-4 MG of folic acid (so are those who've had a baby with a neural tube problem like spina bifida)
Most likely NO you didn't risk your baby's health too much because it was just taking it 1 day and you didn't take a large amount.
as long as your taking folic acid occasional use for panic attacks should be ok but be SURE to talk to your doctor and you OBGYN about it. They need to be in communication to give you and your baby the best care.
Good luck and Congrats
