Low lying placenta?

I went to my check up yesterday. I'm 23w 2d today and just got the results from my last ultrasound I had at 19weeks. My midwife said I have a low lying placenta. It's about 2cm from my cervix. I have to go in for a followup ultrasound in  about 5 weeks.
Has anyone had this and are my chances pretty good for the placenta to move up? Is it even possible that it could move over my cervix? What if it stayed there? Will I be considered high risk? She said something about 2cm away being right at the line of being considered high risk for labour or something.

Thanks ladies! I'm hoping for it to move. Who knows, after a month it could have already moved but I wont know for another 5 weeks or so.
It's just a small downer. I didn't even think c-section yet. I was just let down because I didn't want a transfer of care from midwives to obstetrician but she said they would still be there for support. So that's nice. I'm staying positive for it to just move up, sounds like most cases it does anyway!

I had this with my last they'll schedule another u/s nearer the date... mine moved and 90% of the time it does....but if it doesn't you'll have a section but at least you'll know and it wont be an emergency. good luck

2 cm actually seems not too bad. Mine is about 1 cm and they told me not to worry too much...yet. 90% of them migrate up as the baby grows and your uterus expands. Worse case scenario is you either bleed a lot during labor so you'll need good labor monitoring and care, or if the placenta doesn't move up at all, you'll need a C-section.

I have a low placenta. I'm going in for my next ultrasound next Wednesday. The chances of it moving up are pretty good. Usually the placenta will migrate toward the richer blood flow away from the cervix. If the placenta does not move, you'll need to have a c-section. But as I said before, the chances of it moving away from the cervix are pretty high. So don't stress over it just yet.

Not sure but it normally just means you will need a c section
