Marginal Placenta Previa???

Hi!  I'm new here!  I had my ultrasound done this week.  I am currently 19 weeks pregnant.  We found out we are having a healthy baby boy!  I found out though that I have what they call marginal placenta previa.  My doctor said my case was very mild and told me not to worry about it.  He said I will have another ultrasound around 28-30 weeks to see if it has moved.  He told me it is just bordering my cervix and not overlapping it and that there is a 90-95% chance that it will be gone by my next ultrasound.  Does anyone know anything about this or have any experiece with it.  I know it can be dangerous if it does not go away and will most likely require a c-section and close monitoring. Have any ladies experienced this an it did go away before birth? Also I am going away in a couple of weeks to toronto and my doc said it is perfectly fine to fly.  Its an hour and 20 minute flight.  Does this sound okay?

Thanks!

Yeah, mine went away.  I don't know why they even tell you about it so early because they go away like 90% of the time, and the way they scare you about it is silly.

They are already telling me I have one with this pregnancy and I'm only 10 weeks, but this time I know it's just ****.

no ur % are correct but like u said a very few will not fix itself and i am one of the few that it didnt... my drs found out i had p/p when i was about 15-16 weeks along and at that time it was just a lil p/p so i was like you and thought it would move so i wouldnt have to have one but i guess i was wrong... but im not saying ur wont move... i hope it does for ur sake and the baby... its not fun going thru what i have to go thru to make sure my baby is ok and all.... but i can say one good thing about it is that my husband is a truck driver and my dr said no sex so there for he is gone for weeks at a time which makes it easy for me not to have sex.... im sure that was tmi but its true.... we all know that us pregnant woman crave sex more now then before.... well like i said hope all is well with u and ur baby.... im going to my dr's now... good luck again

You're percentages are correct according to my doctor and everything I have read.  Even though they say 90% of previa's correct themselves there is definitely still a chance they won't, especially with complete previas and ones that are diagnosed after 20 weeks. But since you had a full previa that is now moved to marginal and only 23 weeks things look good for you! I am just hoping mine does correct itself since its marginal and I am only 19 weeks right now.

I am glad that you are doing well though and you will get to meet your little one soon!  Good luck with everything.

well hope all goes well for u... im 35 weeks along and i have a full placenta previa which does require a c-section and close monitoring... i go in every week for an u/s and to be monitored to make sure the baby is doing good... which everything is good as long as i do what the dr says... which is no sex, no heavy lifting and no straning... so i have been doing pretty good with all that...i go in on oct 22 for my c-section.... if nuthin happens before then.... so like i said i hope all goes well with u and ur baby boy and lets hope ur p/p will fixs itself... goodluck

Hi,

Yes, you should be fine.

I was diagnosed w. placenta previa at around 12 weeks. It was a full previa. I am now 23 weeks and my most recent u/s showed it has corrected to marginal. There is a 90% chance in all cases of placenta previa that it will correct itself as the baby grows.

As far as the flying, I think that's fine. I dont think it will adversely affect anything. Previa means no heavy lifting, etc, but I have never heard you couldnt travel due to a marginal placenta previa. Hang in, you should be just fine!

Good luck!
