Massive baby

i had an appointment with the hospitial today for a check up (i'm 39 weeks tomorrow) and they said the baby was massive, just by feeling my tummy and now i have to go to day assisment on friday so they can do test and ultrasounds on the baby. i just dont know how my baby can be mesuring so behind at 20 weeks ( it was messuring 2 weeks behind) and now they are saying it is huge but not actually saying how big it is yet.

has anyone had this happen to them or heard of this happening?

My best friend had her son 5 months ago and she was 6 days overdue and they were estimating her baby to be like 10 pounds! He was ACTUALLY 8lb5oz. I don't think the estimates are that accurate. Good luck and keep us posted!

hi baby edgar, how did it go with the doc?, having a c-section still? i'm 27wks and my doc keeps refusing me having an U/S, says when i'm, 34 wks, wonder why, so far he says the baby is growing normally. i just hope he /she isn't too big.

I was told by the doctor just feeling that my baby was over 8lbs and almost 9lbs.  He was 6lbs 5 oz...3 weeks later!  My cousin had GD and was told by ultrasound that her baby was 9.5 lbs and it was 7lbs 2oz.  They can be a bit off so I wouldnt worry too much, however your mil is right, if it is measuring big, I would ask for the c section.

My doctor refuses to give me an estimate of the baby's birth weight.  He says they can make guesses, but like someone said, it can be off by pounds either direction.  He said to plan on the average, which is 7-8 lbs.:)

My firstborn was 9'1 and my doc said he never would've guessed the baby weighed that much!

I am only 36.2 weeks and my doctor is already estimating my baby to be at around 8 pounds.  I can just imagine how big she will be in a few weeks at birth! At least your getting an ultrasound to check everything... my doctor wont give me another one. Personally, I think that this is a big issue... I mean, I am the one who's vagina is going to rip in half at birth... I think I should get another ultrasound. LOL. But my doctor seems to think otherwise. But you also have to remember that they can be off by a few pounds too. My sisters doctor estimated her son to be a 8-9 pound baby at birth and he ame out weighing 5 pounds 12 ounces. So, I'm not too worried about it. Let us know what your ultrasound says!
