So far the doctor prescribed Tylenol w codine .. which i refuse to take bc of the codine. (sometimes i wonder if they know what they are doing)
As of right now when i feel a trigger coming on.... ill eat a lil something or make sure i take my daily iron dosage... it helps in some cases.. but not always...
I am just getting tired of sitting in the dark at this point.
It does sound like migraine, and hormonal changes are a very common trigger. It's not unusual for pregnant women to get one for the first time. Classic signs may include pain on one side of the head, dizziness/disorientation, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and seeing auras (kind of like dancing points of light or bright spots). Much sympathy! I've had them for years and pregnancy makes them even worse.
You should not be taking over-the-counter migraine meds like Excedrin or prescription treatments like Imitrex during pregnancy. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Rest in a dark room is best and may be the only thing that works. Avoid standing for long periods as much as you can. If you feel one of those headaches coming on, please don't try to walk very far alone, and definitely don't attempt to drive. You could crash if you started feeling dizzy or confused in traffic. If you have to get home, wait 20-30 minutes and put your head down and try to rest your eyes, or call a friend.
Also, if you're used to your coffee and have tried going cold turkey, that can aggravate the headaches. You don't have to totally eliminate caffeine to have a healthy baby, just cut back to about a cup or two here and there. With migraines, a small amount of caffeine can help -- it's a common ingredient in migraine pills anyway, so go ahead and have a little chocolate, or a cup of coffee or tea if you need it.
I have often had headaches at the same time as my most severe nausea -- seems to just work that way and I suspect it is related to hormonal levels. Think it might also be related to low blood pressure, which can exacerbate nausea and vomiting. If this is the case try drinking gatorade or something with electrolytes in it. Still good to have it checked out, though!
I am actually sitting in the doctors office right now. Just a minor clinic, I doubt they can help me but that is where the father wanted to start.
Have you talked to a doctor at all? Many women experience headaches while pregnant due to the hormone levels.
I tested positive 2 days ago via home test.
But these headaches are pretty painful. I did not get this last time ( I miscarried )
Sounds like a migraine. Are you pregnant, TTC?
Some people have fevers with migraine, but this is not considered common (maybe 10 percent). Vomiting and dizziness are more typical. Since a severe headache with fever can be a warning sign of problems with the pregnancy, tell your doctor right away if you experience anything like this, or a headache that comes with painful cramps like bad PMS.
