Thanks Ladies for all the input!!! I did call the ob and he sent me in script to my pharmacy..... not sure what it is yet tho!
I take 2 Tylenol, drink 1/2 a Coke/Pepsi, and try to sit in a dark area. I have been at school teaching for the past few so that last part can be a little difficult.
it all depends on ur obgyn and what they are comfortable with.i too suffer from severe migraines and tylenol does not touch them.i work with a woman who was allowed to take furocette and took it religiously throughout her pregnancy oked by her doc but when i mentioned it to mine they said eh...wed much rather u not but if u really think u cant deal wit it then go ahead,so i said ok lets not go there.i did have another friend tell me her doctor recommended magnesium which is an over the counter laxative actually but helps wit headaches.my docs were ok with this and even said that its proven to work.but i would definately always check with ur own personal doctor first before doing anything.
I'm in the same boat as you, I don't know if I'm getting migraines but I get the worst headaches/pains behind my eyebrows. I get them almost daily and if they don't go away they last all night. I've found the only thing that helps is taking a nap, but sometimes right as I wake up and actually get out of bed the pounding starts again. My OBGYN said vision changes when pregnant, plus the horomones can cause the headaches. The joys of pregnancy!
Oh and try some of those positions.... willing to try anything about now LOL even sleeping on my stomach! Thanks Girls
Oh thank you..... that is how i feel..... I hate to take anything unsafe..... But i dont know how much longer i can deal with the pain...... I will def give my dr a call!
I also suffer from migraines; however, my migraines disappeared after the first trimester and did not resurface until after I gave birth, so perhaps those pregnancy hormones are good for something!
But anyway, during TTC and those first trimester weeks, there were a few things that helped me.
-- Ice. I would put an ice pack on my neck or head, wherever I needed relief.
-- Sleeping on my stomach. I know it's hard to think about when you're preggo. Something about being on my stomach with my head to one side relieved the pressure. Try both sides because one always worked better than the other for me.
-- Massage / Pulling my Neck. My husband would rub my head/neck/shoulders, or I would lay on the floor on my back and he would hold my head and gently pull toward him. This seemed to release the tension in my body that was fueling the headache.
-- Pillow Under the Neck. I would sleep on my side with a rolled up pillow under my neck so that my neck was higher than my head and body. Try both sides because one works better than the other. The stretch on my neck released the tension. It's not the most comfy pose, but it's better than the throbbing migraine pain.
-- Hot Shower.
Well, those are my tricks. I never took anything including Tylenol because I also thought that Tylenol did nothing.
I hope like me, you won't have to live with this the whole pregnancy.
Take Care.
