Miscarriage... D&C.. IS this normal

I went in for an ultrasound on Aug 19, 2010.  Found out that I had a blighted ovum.  I was suppose to be 11-12 weeks pregnant, the sac only measured 7 weeks. I opted for a d&c as I had no symptoms of miscarriage and really couldnt stand the wait...

Had the d&C on Aug 23, 2010.  It appeared to go well, I was out of the OR in 10 minutes.  First day, I had a light period like blood.. It lighten up very fast...  On August 26th during the day, it was like a light orange - light brown colour, and I was using thin panty liners, pretty light discharge.  Then August 26th, I started bleeding really heavily suddenly..  It is now two days later and im having like a normal period bleeding still...  My doctor told me not to worry unless I was soaking a pad an hour, which Im not even remotely close to.. but being the weekend and being paranoid, i am worried.

This was my first pregnancy and everyone I know has had normal, great pregnancies..

Should I be worried about the bleeding?  Is it normal to have it lighten so much then start up bleeding more heavily?

It is normal.  I had a d&c a year ago and I bled heavily for about a week then light bleeding for another it was gone by two weeks and I had my normal period at about 5 weeks from the date of the d&c  Just as long as there is no fever, and you are not soaking the pad every hour there isn't a reason for concern.  It should start tappering off soon.  Just make sure at the end of two weeks you have a follow up with your doctor so they can make sure your cervix is closed back up and the pregnancy hormones are out of your system.  I have a friend that had no bleeding and she was fine too.  Everyone's body is different.  Sorry for your loss!

when i had a d and c in march, i bleed the day of and then it completly stopped.. it was 10 days later i started having almost purple blood coming out.. not alot by any means but it sure wasnt light colored.. and the fact that it was 10 days later really scared me.. but i was told the same thing, if its not soaking a pad, if u have no sign of infection ( fever and very bad cramping) then it should be fine.. mine only lasted like 3 - 4 days then i was 100%.. hope this helps.
