Movemeny

I'm 27 with my first pregnancy and now at 20 wks 4 days. I am a diabetic who is considered obese with now tight control of my diabetes and have no idea what the first fluttered feel like. Everything I've read says I should be feeling baby move more and more, but nothing. I have also read that I should know when he's sleeping and awake... Is that normal? I feel that because I'm heavy I can't feel him yet? All these things are going through my head...please help.

None of mine ever felt like flutters..I am of average size and it felt like something thumping or tapping me from the inside at around 18 1/2 weeks with my first.  My second same time and third 15 weeks. I could feel it when I would lay down in my bed on my back.  Good luck :)

I am plus size and the only time I felt my prince was when I laid flat on my belly from 15wks until around 22wks.....now at 28wks and 5 days with him being bigger and stronger I can actually feel both inside and outside of the belly while sitting, standing, and laying on my side!

Try relaxing when trying to feel your little one also if its comfortable try laying on your stomach for an hour to see if you can feel the baby! Trust me once the baby is farther along you will feel him no matter what size you are!

I didn't feel my boy until I was 21 weeks. Some women don't feel movement until later.

It is possible that your weight is causing you not to be able to feel the baby.  Maybe you'd feel less concerned if you would buy yourself a handheld doppler and learn to find the baby's heartbeat with it.  I got the Hi-Bebe and it was really useful.
