Mucinex or pneumonia??

I really didn't know where to post this, I really trust the ladies on here so i figured I would try.
I have gastroparesis so 75% of my stomach doesn't contract so digestion takes forever, I'm now 23 weeks pregnant and it seems the weight of my belly is really negatively affecting my digestion.  Last week I aspirated in the middle of the night (stomach contents entered my lungs, it's happened a few times before) well I have had a productive cough ever since, I feel fine just an annoying cough.  So I saw my primary doc this past friday who ordered bloodwork, antibiotics and an chest xray (which i refused the xray).  I was starting to feel better but last night I aspirated again worse than last week I was up until 1am constantly coughing.  So I called my OB and asked if I could take mucinex he said yes but to take the "real" one not the fake sudafed.  So around 1pm I took the mucinex and fell asleep on the couch (from lack of sleep last night).  I woke up at 4pm shaky, light headed and generally feeling like i have the flu or a cold.  My problem is I felt fine other than a productive cough prior to taking the mucinex so is this feeling from the mucinex or am i developing pneumonia?  Has anyone who has taken mucinex while pregnant felt this way??  Sorry for the overly long question, thanks in advance for any advice.  Oh and of course OB an Primary doc's office are both closed so i can't call until tomorrow.  And Baby is still pretty active so I don't think it affected her.

I actually got me some glucose tablets because I have been having a lot of blood sugar problems this pregnancy.  I hope you feel better soon.

trying43-I've had pneumonia before and your right I ran a temp every time I just wasn't sure if the 5 days I have been on antibiotics would have stopped my temp from rising.  The only thing I can do to help with the aspiration is I have since cut out food for dinner and replaced it with a protein shake at least 3 hours before bed.  It's all digestion it won't get better until baby comes out and weight goes away, my only other option is a recliner (i already sleep on a wedge).  Thank you for your advice, I tried taking half the dose of mucinex today and it didn't have as big of an effect, just felt wiped out but i could be getting a cold since everyone else is sick :(.  I have had blood sugar issues my whole life so I did try to eat yesterday also thinking that might be why I was shaky, It did help a little.  It's funny now that you mention it, it has gotten to where I need to eat as soon as i get up and I can't go very long without feeling crappy.  That's the worst part about having a protein shake for dinner, I get that feeling right before bed, i'm even drinking qlucerna which is suppose to help maintain blood sugar.  Good to know I'm not alone :).

Also forgot to ask, have u eaten much today?  When my blood sugar drops I get dizzy light headed and weak feeling and just feel bad like I have the flu if I go too long without eating and it started for me around 24 weeks.  I have to eat immediately when i get up or this occurs and have to eat snacks during the day also.  Just a thought.

From a person who has had pneumonia 5 times in a year and a half I always ran a high fever everytime I had it.  And when I coughed I could feel the stuff in there but it would not come up at all.   Mucinex makes me have the shakes and dizzy when I take it but robitussin doesnt, it even does that too my youngest son.  I know it says the ingredients are the same but there is something that doesnt sit well with me when I take it.  But I have weird reactions to most medicines.(dayquil which is supposed to be non drowsy makes me sleep!) Have you tried one of those pregnancy support belts?  You can get them at babies r us for about 30 bucks, it may help keep things in place and supported so you wont aspirate anymore. Hope some of my rambling help.  Good luck to you.

nope 98.2 just took it.  I drank a whole bottle of water about 15 min ago thinking i might be dehydrated but didn't change much.  I am worried that it could be pneumonia but I really don't want the chest xray and they have yet to call with the bloodwork from friday.

I have never felt that way when using mucinex.   Are you running a fever?  I would be very worried about pneumonia having aspirated twice this week.
