Mucous plug

I feel like such a first timer asking so many questions, but this pregnancy has been very different from my last. I'm 36 weeks 5 days today and having more discharge. It's brightish yellow with a white/stretchy mix. The yellow part I brought up with my dr last month and she didn't say anything about it really. BUT I've just been getting a lot more like yesterday morning I woke up and normally have nothing on my panty liner, but there was a huge streak of it. I've been seeing this a couple times a day but it's not constant, it's all the same color, no brown/pink/red. So could it be my mucous plug?

IF it is my mucous plug doesn't that mean I'm effacing at least, the L&D nurse that did my prenatal classes said that when you lose your mucous plug it's because you're effacing and getting to the point where it's loose and can fall out...???

I never noticed anything out of the ordinary with Elijah, so I assume I didn't lose my mucous plug with him. I've been getting a lot of BH lately, more and more every day it seems, but nothing remotely close to being regular and no more than two an hour, if that. UGH this is so confusing...what would I do without you ladies?

at the end of this last pregnancy, I started losing my mucous plug around 33 weeks and then it regenerated, so at 37 weeks I started losing it again, and I finally lost it completely after 2 membrane sweeps, at around 38-39 weeks...To make a long story short, I was induced at 39 weeks and 2 days, and well I wasnt effaced at all...I was "ripe" and dialating but not effaced at all....I am so sorry, I know that is not what you want to hear...But, each person and each pregnancy is different..I know with my son, once I lost my plug, and I remember this from 5 years ago...I was walking and was completely freaked out, ran to the bathroom  to find it was my plug lol well anyways, I was in labor and had him by the next week...so see each is different..Good luck hun

I got a heavier discharge at the end but your plug looks like a gelitin marshmellow really, it can come out in chunks but it will be like gelatin and see though but firmer. Hope this helps, I wish I could tell you that you are efecing and dialating but lots of time that happens right when labor begins or right after in subsequent pregnancies.

LOL, it's ok. I'm just curious cause I never had it with my first, and last week the dr said I was "long, thick, and closed". I walked in there expecting SOMETHING but instead I got a big fat NOTHING.

I googled this because i'm going thru the same thing.. it says that you start losing your mucus plug when your cervix is begining to ripen. when your cervix opens or effaces it starts to let go of the plug which is held in place to help insure bacteria can't enter the cervix so once you start to dilate your cervix starts to let go of the plug.. hope that helps!
