So for you ladies who have been through labor, please enlighten us on the difference between your mucus plug and normal discharge at the end of pregnancy.

I personally think that it looks like a clear/tan jelly. It seriously reminds me of apple jelly! There are pictures on google of mucus plugs if your really interested.

Mine was quite a bit so i knew right away & it also was bloody! I woke up in the middle of the night and noticed it on the bed & went to the bathroom & it felt like it took forever to wipe off its very slimy & sticky like mucous but more than discharge. Also i started getting contractions as soon as it happened & went into labor that night.

The clear snotty discharge, is pay off the mucus plug BUT it can come out at anytime during pregnancy.  It regenerates,  and builds back up.  With my 2nd it came out at 19 weeks.(Went to er) and with my 3rd now it was like 8-9 weeks. It is not infection.  When more towards labor starting, it will be be bloody.  But should not be just blood.  Ive never lost my mucus plug before labor, Ive just had it explained by drs alot.

If it doesn't have a foul odor or itch it shouldn't be an infection.
