Baby was born at 37+2 tomorrow she will be 1 week old,  she's been in the nicu since she was born and they won't let me take her home cause shes not eating well supposedly,  but in my opinion they're feeding her more that what she wants have you ever gone thru this? Did you feed her every 3 hours or whenever they asked for?

Its Normal for them to get food every 3 hours my baby was born at 23 almost 24 weeks but she's being fed every 2 hours and they up her food dose every day so its normal as long as he's digesting it just fine I wouldn't worry to much they know what there doing

My son was born at 37w1d , he decided he wanted to stop breathing & coded and needed CPR & a CPAP cap, evidently he was transferred to a hospital with a NICU, he had the same issues with the not eating right, he was being gavage fed every 3 hours from an NG tube. We had a speech therapist come in and work with him, we tried different techniques and finally found that mixing beechnut rice cereal with his milk made if 100x better, the thickness helped him not gag and helped his muscles grow, he's 8 weeks now an we stopped the cereal but he's now on Enfamil A.R formula it has cereal already mixed in. Also please no bashing for adding cereal, I did a lot of research, talked to 5 NICU Dr.'s , speech therapists, l my husband who is also a PA, it's actually very common for NICU babies and works wonderfully. It does not mess their stomachs up either. Your daughter will get the grasp of it all in due time, my son spent 13 days in the NICU before they released  him, he had had to have 24 hours of only bottle feeds, rooting for food (awake, moving arms, sucking hands, crying..etc), no spitting up and had to gain weight. It'll happen for her
