Natural Birth

I'm still wanting to go without an epidural but I'm so freaked out. Not so much about the contractions but more about the ring of fire because in all of the birth videos I've watched that's the part that they scream in. People should really stop posting those because it freaks us ftm out. Can anyone give me any incite on natural labor that may help me?

Just get it lol I wanted to go natural, but honestly, going natural doesn't make you love your baby anymore than loving her with an epidural. I got to 5 cm dilated when I got my epidural. But my birth wasn't in my back, it was allllllll menstrual cramps. Take the pain of bad PMS and times it by 20. The epidural worked instantly.

I'm a ftm, 39 & 4 days. I'm going to try it natural and stay at home until my water breaks. Hopefully. If I can't handle the pain, I'm going for the epidural all the way. Everyone wants me to get the epidural because it works wonders but everbody is different. My husband is supportive with whatever decision I make. He told me that he's not pushing so whatever makes me comfortable, he's ok with it lol. I'm kinda nervous but excited at the same time. I think you should try it natural first and see if you can handle it. You decide, listen to your body and relax let it do what its suppose too.

I'm 28 weeks but measuring 30 they're having a hard time with my dates because I was on birth control and didn't have a period, I was off of my birth control for like 8 weeks when I found out I was pregnant and still hadn't had a period. Idk  sometimes I feel like I shouldn't worry because one way or another this baby is coming out of me.

That's what they told me. I mean I'm sure they won't let you have one right before pushing, because it takes time to put it in and it takes about 10 mins to start working. I would wait until you got to an 8 or so if u are gonna go as long as possible before pushing. Just depends on how fast you are progressing ya know? The main reason I got mine was because I had barely progressed and I was just so frustrated. Lol you will know exactly what to do once you are in labor. Don't let anyone pressure you to do either. How far are you?

My doctor said you can get an epidural whenever it's just harder to sit still when you are contracting every 2 mins. That was my problem. I want to do a water birth with my next. Don't feel bad if you get an epi, getting an epidural doesn't make you any less of a mom verses people who didnt.

Yeah I just don't want to get too far into it to the point of no epidural. My mom went natural and so did my husband's mom so I feel judged when I talk about maybe getting an epidural. I want to go natural because I want to feel empowered like all the woman do. My mom talks about it like it was a cake walk lol

Yeah I wish you could just get an epidural for the pushing part because that's the only part I'm really worried about lol. It all just seems so brutal.

Don't worry so much. Its not as bad as bad as watching it. I did all natural the worst part was the last 30 minutes when he was coming down through the birth canal it felt loke he was breaking my hips apart. I did scream but I knew when to push because it was natural my pushes were super controlled the docote didn't even have to tell me when to push I did it all on my own the only thing she did was have me move down because I couldn't on my own and she caught the baby other than that I did it all myself. When they're crowning yes it hurts but it will all end soon after that. Natural was amazing.

I know how you feel! My husband thought I was crazy for wanting natural and so did alot of other people, but I know how you feel. I wanted the whole experience.  But after 10 hours I just wanted it to be over. My doctor said in his experience it goes alot faster if you try to go as long as you can before epidural, after all that work your muscles are relaxed and it's much faster. The experience is so amazing whether you get the epi or not. And in my opinion, once you start pushing, it goes by so quickly you will be done before you know it! I only pushed for 15 mins, and I felt since I was not in pain that I could watch the whole thing. It's just amazing!

Yeah I'm not against them at all and my husband says he will make sure I get one if I tell him I want one. I have an open mind about it thankfully I just hope it's quick regardless of the pain. I really hate hospitals and want to be done as soon as possible so I can leave sooner lol. I guess everyone gets nervous but it's past the point of no return lol

I was so set on natural birth. When i did go into labor, it was so different from expected. Contractions were really bad for me, I had Horrible back labor,  and because she had high heart rate I was not able to walk around or take a warm shower. I was so incredibly tired from crying during contractions, I thought I was gonna pass out. And I took alot of birthing classes. Needless to say after 10 hours of hard labor I got the epidural. In that 10 hours I only went from a 3 to a 4 1/2. After the epidural I was at a 10 in 30 mins. At first,  I was very disappointed that I "gave in", so I would encourage you to keep an open mind. Things don't always go your way during labor and it's different than you plan. I told the nurses I did not want to be offered any pain medication, and I tried to go as long as I could. No shame in getting the epidural.  It was amazing after all that pain lol. Not trying to scare you, just trying to give you some insight and keep your options open. :) do what is best for you!
