Need URGENT Advice for ovulation after miscarriage

hi everyone.  I was overjoyed to find out that i was pregnant two weeks ago.  But last week (thursday - 3rd july) i had a bit of spotting.  This went on to full red bleeding for friday and saturday and today (sunday) the bleeding has slown to almost nothing.  Also today we went for a full scan which found that there was nothing left inside the cervix.  Doctors have said that most likely i have had a miscarriage and that i've lost the baby through the heavy bleeding.  The doctors have said that I won't need a D&C though.

I would have been 6 weeks pg tomorrow (monday) and going through this first miscarriage loss has really put me down because i was looking forward to this baby but the mc was very early that i think this is the reason it has made it easy for me to keep looking forward and not to dwell on what was not meant to happen.  I have heard that after a miscarriage, a woman is more fertile and the chances of getting pregnant are higher.  Therefore i want to take my chances and have another go for my ovulation.

Now i want to know a few things regarding ovulation after miscarriage and would be very grateful if anyone can guide me.

First of all let me give you some info:- my last period was on may 26th and if i wasn't pregnant then my last period would have been on june 23rd and my next period would be 21st july.  My cycle is always 28 days, give or take day.  My ovulation is also always 14 days from the first day of my cycle.

Now my questions are:-

1.  Just like a period 1st day is classed from the start of full-flow bleeding, which day do i class a miscarriage from?
2.  Is having a miscarriage classed as having a period?
3.  From the info i have given you, what is the most likely day/date i will ovulate?

Sorry for such a long post, but i would be very grateful if someone could help me ASAP.

thank you

xx

Honestly for a healthy pregnancy you should wait atleast 5 or 6 months for your body to get back stronger. It is not safe getting pregnant back to back which can cause another miscarriage.
I had a miscarriage in june. Didn't get pregnant until November. My bestfriend had a miscarriage got pregnant again and had a miscarriage.
You actually have to give your body time to heal on its own.
   Goodluck

i thought i was going to die,i had shortness of breath , feeling sick[but could not vomit] and my head was killing with pain. this lasted for at least one hour.

just before i got dizzy i was helping mu dh to sort out the carpet in the hall way and  i thought i must of got an elargic reaction to the underlear of the carpet but im telling you it was very bad i have never experianced anything like this before.

this morning i feel much better like as though notting ever happened, i just feel a little tyered and i dont feel like doing anything.

has someone been through this and did you get a bfp???

would love to know

i woke up at 4:30 in the moring i dont know why, i think it was bc of doing the temp the first thing in the morning was on my mind so i though i might forget to do the temp at 7:30 when i normally wake up so i decided to temp at 4:30.
i have had no cm up untill now, 30mins ago i had watery cm and i normally get this when im just about to ovulate. i think the only thing i trust is the my cm as this is quite a good indicater of ovulation.
i normally ovulate around day12-14 and i am going to do the opt every day from tommarow, i would usually wait to test till day 12 but bc i have had a mc and bc i have started to get some watery cm this could be an indication that ovulation is going to be early.
my dh thinks that i might of missed my ovulation but i think he is just panaking, clearblue opk are very good, i have been using them in the past and they always are quite accurat.i waited for 3hours and 30 mins to do the test in the afternoon as meny test say not to do the test first thing in the morning and it was -negative.
i think i should wait for at least 1 more day just to be on the safe side, i know i have not yet ovulated and once we start to bd we will do it every outher day so that we have more of a chance.
this is my plan:-
-first thing in the morning do the bbt
-then do the ovulation test in the morning [anytime of the day for clearblue]
-if the opk says +then plan to bd in the next few hours
-if the opk says -then to continue charting bbt, taking folic acid and will do the ovulation test again on sunday.

Looking at the 2 pics you posted i would say they are not negative, what time do you normally temp.if it was early it would explain the drop...clearblue are really good i would keep using them,as it looks like it could be any day going by the pictures..i will say if you keep stressing about when you ovulate then you will ovulate later, stress causes late ovulation not late period. so relax enjoy the love making and let nature take its course..

Oh boy, you need to relax baba! :) It all boils down to whether you are O and BD around the same time. Remember, sperm can stay alive trying to find that egg for atleast a couple days, so if you did BD then O later you still have a chance.

If you have already O, then all you can do is wait. If not, just keep BD so you don't worry about missing it and your body will get itself back on track. And I wouldn't worry about his sperm not being replenished - my DH and I BD atleast once a day and we conceived after 2 mths. But I strongly believe that one of the biggest factors is being relaxed......it will happen when it happens. Unfortunately we can't force these things! Good luck!

i've just gone and bought a clearblue ovulation test which shows more clearly the results with eithier a smily circle face (LH SURGE) or an empty circle (NO LH SURGE).  I've tested and it shows the empty circle :-( ....so therefore the previous test must be incorrect.

I'm sorry for posting again, but i'm not sure if the actual test result is positive for sure.  The reason i say this is because to have a positive the test window (square) has to be the same as or darker than the control window (round).

I'm not 100% sure as to me, the test window is slightly lighter than the control window, so i'm posting these 2 pictures for you girls to decide:-

http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/3007/dsc01930ls2.jpg

Also i have had a 0.4 degress temperature drop.  This could be because of ovulation or maybe because i woke up at 4.30am and did a bbt test.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

thanks

Hi there if you have had a positive ovulation test and bbt dip, then i would get busy i normally know what day i ovulate since i have a dip the day before...so i would get busy now and for next couple days just to be safe, obviously if your temp goes up tomorrow and stays up for few days you can be confident you have o'ed..sperm can last up to 5 days in a healthy enviroment the egg generally they say lasts between 6 to 12 hours...to replemish sperm they say 2 hours, but if your hubbys sperm is ok,then i wouldnt worry, but get to it.best of luck...

HEEEELP!!!
it seems like i have ovulated now i did a pg test this morning and it was -negative and after that i did a ovulation test and it has come out positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . what shall i do??? the problem is that we bd yesterday and my dh did insist on unprotected x as he believed OV could happen anytime, but like an idiot, i told him it was too early and now im worried as he was right and since we had X yesterday, his sperm count might be low.
i want to ask how long does the egg last [waiting for the little swimmers???
how long does it take for the sperm count take to build back up?? my dh as a good sperm quality.
is there any thing we can do like eat or drink something to help our little swimers get to the destination quickly???
i am willing to try anything.

just like to add i have been charting my bbt and this morning my temp had a sharp fall, this was one of the signs and the second was the ovulation test coming out as +

NOTE: I have read on the instructions that if the OV test shows positive, then it means i will be ovulating in the next 24-36hrs...but should i start bedding now..i.e in the next few hours or later?

that is what i have been told to do, to count the first day of full flow of bleeding as cd1 and to calculate my dates from there.

i have also been reading on other sites and meny ladies are saying to wait for at least one cycle, but i think if i was to wait and just do planning for the next few weeks i will go crazy as all i have been doing is planning and getting no where.at the hospital and from my gp i have been told that to think that my mc was a late af and that it has not done any damage,so to carry on as normal and that is what im going to do.

before my mc and even before i was pg i was very stressed, i thought that i cound never get pg and every second of the day all i could think of was babyz.this was the reason it was hard for me to concive STRESS!!! lots of ladies i have tolked to have said that what helped them to get over their mc is when they have become pg asap and also meny ladies have said after their mc not been able to concive straght away was more depressing and did not help getting over the grife of the mc.

i hpoe all the best to all the ladies ttc, i wish you the best of luck and i hope all your wishes come true soon.DONT STRESS

Im sorry about your loss.

I agree with KM604.  Everyone body is different, i had D&C on june 17th, june 27th hpt was still positive, july 6th it was negative, i went into dr office today to have my hcg levels drawn.  My dr told me to wait one cycle before ttc again.  Your body does need time to heal from what it has been threw.  I had a co-worker who had natural m/c at 6weeks, got preggo before first cycle and m/c again.  My friend had m/c at 9 weeks natural got preggo b4 first cycle and carried to term.  Everyone is different.

If you feel up to it and feel ok, then do it.  Did your dr give you any recommendations?

i'm sorry to hear abt ur miscarriage km604.  I haven't passed anything other than blood.  Over the last 2-3 days i've only had very little spotting per day and nothing else.  Don't forget i was only 5wks gone and when they scanned stomach and pelvic, they told me that the cervix was closed and they could find nothing at all.

If it still shows positive, then the pregnancy horomone is obivously still in your system and you aren't ovulating yet.  When I m/c'd, it was natural and complete.  The bleeding lasted 7 days and I got my period again 8 weeks after the bleeding started.  Everyone's bodies are different and it doesn't matter whether you've had a d&c or not, your body will need to adjust.  Maybe you should have your doctor's monitor your beta hcg until it goes down to 0.  Your body won't begin it's normal cycle until all of the hormone is out of your system.  I just wanted to give my story, since I had a natural m/c and my period didn't come until 8 weeks later (which my OBYGN said it could up to 6-8 weeks).  I don't know exactly how far along I was, but based on when my last period was I was probably 7-8 weeks.  Have you passed anything?

just to up-date you all, i have noticed since yesterday evening that i am still spotting. It is day 5 today so i assume this is normal as many of you have said bleeding/spotting continues for between 6-8 days after the first day of full flow of bleeding just as like an AF, it is water like blood, in very small amounts like the end of my AF.  I also did a pregnancy test in the morning today and it still shows positive.

well thanks for all your replies girls. Ii felt very isolated when my m/c happened, but since i've read your accounts, i know that i'm not on my own.

Since m/c messes up some women's cycles, me and DH have had intercourse today.  I know its early, but we don't want to risk missing the O, incase it came too early.  Also just to let you know, my bleeding has stopped today..i don't even have spotting.

Yes, it all depends how your body reacts to your M/C. I've also heard a woman is more fertile after a M/C. I had one as well that started on June 24, and lasted a week. I was about as far along as you were, and also didn't need a D&C. I've been told to start counting from the day your M/C started, as your normal timing for your period starts over. I know you can start O around 14 days after, but it also can takes a few months to get on track, as the other ladies have said. But I'm at day 13 and I started O yesterday. So you never know! Good luck!

i read you can have sex 2-3 days after the bleeding stops, but if you feel up to it, I would go for it. i just used OPK's and didn't have sex for a few days to make sure my cervix was closed..i didnt want an infection! i really think they might be the best way to predict what may happen. everything i've read on the internet said you "can" O as early as 14 days after miscarriage, but that doesn't mean you can't earlier in my mind. anything can happen at this point...good luck!

I had a natural m/c on june 15th, I went to ER btu they didn't do anything for me so I basically expelled everything on my own.  I bled for 7 days and that's it.  I ovulated on July 2nd, so basically my body went back to a normal cycle after the m/c.  I'm counting the first day of m/c as first day of af since my body has worked excatly like it.
I feel that my body is being too normal since I usually have something but I feel great.
So I'm expecting af on 7/15 maybe hopefully I'll miss it and have a BFP!
My best friend is an MD and she said that natural m/c's are counted more like af and that D&C's have more of a potential to cause damage and that's why your cycles are messed up afterwards because your body doesn't prepare for it and expell it when its ready.
She didn't say tho that women are more fertile after a m/c she said you are just as fertile as before m/c :(  I was kinda hoping I was more fertile.

I was 11 weeks when I had my mc and I had misoprostol inserted vaginally to dilate me and then induce contractions to expel the tissue, etc.  This essentially was like labor for 14 hours but at least I didn't have to have a surgery where they put you under anesthesia...my obgyn doesn't favor d&c, he favors the aforementioned method because it is 'more natural and non-invasive'.  Thanks for the luck and I'm sending some to you too!

sweetangel17.....Could you tell me how meny months were you when you had your mc and did you have to have a d&c after,
the reason i ask is that i have noticed that the ladies that have the d&c prosiger done their cycles mess up, im not saying that this is the case in all ladies but in the mojorety i recon.
my bleeding has almost stopped now,if this was my normal pariod then i would have bled just the same as now and i feel that my body has gone back to normal, i am only spotting now as though i have just finished my af.
and i think your right you should only bd or do anything els if you feel you can.
i also like the advice you gave for ovulation,i wish you all the best and good luck on ttc.

Whenever you feel ready to bd you should...just keep in mind that a mc can really change things with your cycle and your body.  I had a mc in December and I bled and spotted for like two weeks...Then I went 44 days without a period and like you I had always been a 28 day cycle girl with ovulation on day 14...Then I had like a 35 day cycle, then it went to 28 day cycles AND now I am on a 30 day cycle with no period and no positive pregnancy test!  Good luck!

Many many thanks for your replies girls.  I feel a lot better knowing that i'm not alone feeling like this.  My question is that if the Ovulation is not predictable, then surely it can't be just a week after the m/c? surely it would be approx 2 weeks from m/c?

Lastly you girls recommend i start BDing straight away..if i still have very minor spotting today, then how many days after the the spotting do u recommend i should start BDing?

thanks

i just had a miscarriage a lot like yours on june 27th. for me, the spotting started 3 days after my normal period should have started and ended about the same length of a period. i am kind of counting my miscarriage as a period, since it was so close to the normal day. i was supposed to start june 22nd, got BFP june 23rd and started spotting june 25th and miscarried the tissue the 27th. i stopped bleeding a couple days later. it's hard to tell when you will be back to normal, but for me, my body seems to be normal already. i think i am going to prob ovulate again on time. i would suggest buying some OPK's and start peeing on them every day until you ovulate...that's what I am doing. you could O early or late or even on time...if you want to make sure, just start BDing now to be safe and you will prob catch it! i asked how many people on here got BFP's the month after an early miscarriage and many, many did....so good luck to both of us this month!! hang in there...i know its stinks. i wanted my baby so bad too, but i keep telling myself something wasn't right and maybe this time will be better!
