New job but possibly bad???

Ok so I finally was able to get a job but its only temporary for three months. My boyfriend also got a job and we'll be working the same position on the same shift. My only concern is that our jobs are working in a fruit factory 40hours a week minimum and if they ask us to work overtime we HAVE to- its not an option. They do offer "reasonable accomadations when your pregnant and having a hard time doing all of your tasks. But my concern is that all of that working might cause me to go into preterm labor or do something bad to my baby. What do you guys think? Have any of you done this? I'll be standing the whole shift (which is the night shift pretty much short for graveyard) sorting cherries. They do allow a ten minute break for every four hours you work and a meal break after five hours of work. Thanks for any help :) Oh and I'm 14 weeks 1 Day pregnant today and will be almost 16 weeks pregnant when I start working.

Yeah my flabby arms aren't used to heavy lifting or repetitive lifting lol. So I should ask my midwife about that. Thanks for helping :)

well I've been doing the same job for 5 years or so.. usually lifting around 20 kg, though I have lowered that to no more than 10. my midwife said I'm fine doing anything my body is used to, however as this is a new job for you, might be worth asking your midwife on what weight lifting they recommend... this is my first baby too, and sometimes I do worry, but thats why I'm finishing work at just over 32 wks

Wow you guys are so amazing :) Here I was thinking I was going to have it rough working graveyard 40hours a week min. but you guys blew me out of the park with 60 hours min! :) How much are you lifting? Your not scared or concerned about doing lifting? I was going to do house cleaning but it required a lot of daily lifting and even going upstairs with whatever weight your carrying so I thought maybe that wasnt a good idea. But this is my first pregnancy so I don't know what exactly is bad and whats good. Which is why I posted this in the first place lol. Thanks for being encouraging :)

I'm on the go all the time with my job, and I do plenty of lifting and continuously on my feet. if I work less than 60 hours in a week, its a good week. my baby is bopping around all the time and I'm currently 27wks4days. I'll be finishing my work at just over 32 weeks. so just stick in there. :) good luck!

Wow your such an inspiration :) how is it even possible to work 60 hours a week? How many hours a day is that? Or was that with occasional overtime? Sorry if thats too personal I'm just curious. Thanks for commenting that really gave me some hope and someone to look up to :)

Yeah the position would end one month before my due date. I totally agree about the shoes :) I dont know if I'll even have the time to do yoga because I'm trying to get back in school but I might not get to do that until august. But theres going to be  summer classes at the local college which I want to sign up to do office skills so I can get a better job later on. Problem is though I only get 3 days off max every couple of weeks but usually it will be two days off. But I'm going to try my best :)

Go for it. You'll be fine. I worked as a server with both my other pregnancies... I worked almost 60 hours a week on my feet!! When you need the money, you gotta do what you gotta do!

So you'd be about 30 weeks or so by the time the position closed, right? I think you will be ok. Just find a good pair of shoes and try to find time for prenatal yoga to keep your body in line (good for your back, hips, etc.) before work each day.

Yeah I REALLY need the money. So me and my boyfriend can move out and be independent of my boyfriend's family. I don't know if I'd be able to sit down cause I don't know how high the conveyer belt is. And I can't afford to lose this job if they think accomadating me is too much. If my boyfriend and I both work this job and do overtime (which we have no choice) we will save almost $10,000. Which will TOTALLY help us move out and be ready for the baby.

I would give it a go, especially if you really need the money. If they would let you sit down, that would probably help a lot. I usually stand 10 hours plus a day, but sat down after my first trimester and it helped a lot.
