No answers or reasurance yet...

I am about 5 weeks and 5 days pg. I had some cramping yesturday, and went to the early unit but I was too early for a scan. The cramps are on my right side, and have got a little better today but I have to wait 2 days for the next blood test to see what my hcg levels are. Has anyone had this as I feel I need some answers.

Thank you. I did go in to the early unit. They said I was too early for a scan. Its better at 6 weeks cos if they cant see anything then its a false security. They are happy that I can come home. They took blood tests last night and this morning, and I go in saturday for more blood tests to compare my hormone levels. I feel a bit better today. It feels a bit bubbly now, like wind. I hope thats a good sign. The dr phoned me today and said that if there was a problem, my levels of hcg would drop or stay the same in 48 hours, but they should increase in a normal pregnancy. My levels were 1700, or there abouts last night and this morning they were 2200, overnight so they say its "promising". I am still very worried tho.

i would like to agree with the others, but i had an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured, and cramps on one side is the first sign. i would feel better telling you to go in right away. if it is not ectopic, then great! but i would rather be safe than sorry. i had cramps on one side for a couple of days before it ruptured, and the cramps were not very painful. just like a pinching every once in a while.  then one night i had terrible pain in my lower abdimen and kept passing out and having seizures. my husband had to call 911 and the hospital couldnt' even find a blood pressure. i was not vaginally bleeding, just internally bleeding.  please go in and get a scan. they would be able to see a sac in your uterus at 5 weeks. if it is not there, then an ectopic is a possibility.  some cramping is normal for pregnancies, but since it is on one side, i would go in to be safe. good luck to you, i hope everything is fine, and hope i didn't scare you, i just want you to be ok.

I agree with ExpectingaRedhead.  Cramps can be very normal.  I have always had some sort of cramping during pregnancies during all stages.  If possible when you feel them, try to lay down for a little while or at least sit if you think there could be a problem.  No bleeding is a good sign.  Keep us posted.

I am trying to. I have had no bleeding which I pray will always be the case but because the cramps are on one side and they come and go in waves they want to rule out a problem. Were your cramps like this like trapped wind, and to one side.

Cramps are normal in early pregnancy. I had them for a few weeks. Just relax.
