No heartbeat shown :/

So.. I went in for a ultra sound this morning & I was hoping to hear my baby's heart beat but there was nothing :( the doctor said probably cuz I am to early but if I'm not mistaken I'm around 6 weeks. Is this normal not to hear a heart beat? & I didn't even see anything in the yolk sack! Aint I supposed to already see a lil baby on the monitor by now & hear the heart beating??? I'm freaking out! The Dr. Said everything looks normal tho & I am scheduled for another ultra sound next week & I had a blood test on Mon. & today to see if my hcg levels wer doubling! & it is so that's a good thing. I just hope there is a baby in there & everything will be fine by my next appt.

Yeah it's definitely normal...just remember that even being off by a few days on your gestational age at 6wks means the difference between an apparently empty sac and one with a little gummie bear in it! For instance if you go in thinking you are 6wks but you're only 5w4d...you'll probably see nothing...that's why they usually avoid ultrasounds before 8wks unless they need to for any specific reason because you're unlikely to see anything and it can cause some undue stress!

Be easy you'll probably see a healthy little baby in a few weeks.

It's normal to not HEAR the heartbeat. That's not important. What is important is if you SEE the heartbeat. I never heard my daughters until I was 16 weeks pregnant.

Thank you all for the replies! I did have a vaginal ultra sound & regular one! Both couldn't see a baby or hear the heart beat! I was devastated because I got my hopes high & then nothing... Next week I am hoping to atleast hear a heart beat or something! But then again it might still be early! I am trying my best not to freak out. My boy friend is getting mad at me cuz I am so worried but geesh who wouldnt be!? I'm a lil at ease knowing you folks experienced this same thing. THANK YOU

If it was an internal ultrasound you may have seen something and a heart beating.  But 6 weeks is really really really to hear the heart.  Its not unheard of, but very hard to find, especially if the doctor isn't well experienced, since the baby is still sitting below the pubic bone.

I went in at 15 weeks and my doctor still couldn't find the heart beat.
Try not to worry.

it is totally normal. i had two ultrasounds and at my early one they only saw a gestational sac -- didn't even see a yolk sac! -- but at this one (at 8 weeks) they saw it all: heartbeat, yolk sac, babyboo. please, do not worry yourself!!!

baby is still very very small at six weeks and can be hard to see. And the heart beat has only now started beating and again can be very hard to see. Try not to stress yourself out its not good for you. I'm sure everything is fine just try to relax. And yes if Ur hcg is double then its good. Good luck with Ur next scan
