Normal? 4 weeks postpartum? Bleeding?

Hi Everyone,
In a few days my baby will be 4 weeks old.  I had a tough labor dialated all the way, pushed for 3 hours... then had to have a csection because the baby wouldn't come out on his own.  I am still having bleeding is that normal?  Of course it is not heavy anymore and there are days when I think it's gone then I will bleed light pink/brownish.  It's not a lot maybe enough to use one liner a day.  Is this continuing to be my first period after baby?  My incision is healed everything looked perfect at my follow up appointment at 2 weeks postpartum.  I have been taking it easy still most I do is go up the stairs and carry the carseat when I have to.  Of course I have been following the nothing in the vagina rule as well.  Go back for my 6 week check up on sept 1st.  Any insight would be appreciated =)

I'm the same as Jilly with this birth...after my daughter I bled for almost 6 wks, heavy and crazy...but with this one I bled for less than 2wks but I'm still having thick discharge that occasionally is tinged with pink, but when I got a u/s last weekend and they found my cysts they said that my uterus is already empty and shrunken completely...so I guess I'm done. Phew..much better than last time, lol. but yes 4-6wks is the normal time for lochia.

You know, when I went to the Hospital to take childbirth classes, the nurse said we would be bleeding for a month or so. I'm thinking your bleeding is normal. I did ask her why we bleed a month after delivery. She said that it had to do with the uterus shrinking back to its normal size. There is more to it but I just can't remember and I don't want to be writing gibberish lol.

Yeah, I only bled for a few days after birth. Its crazy how different it is for everybody. I only bled for a few days but I had discharge for a few weeks, just icky discharge. Then I started my period last weekend, my son was 6 weeks old. I mean I never really stopped having cramps lol. But some people don't have a period for MONTHS ugh, so jealous. I thought if you breastfed you wouldn't have aperiod for a few months. But I guess some people have a period really soon right after and some people go 6 months or so without one. (Lucky people) lol

Yep, normal! I had Elijah on July 2, bled 6 weeks, and started my period again in Sept...hopefully with this baby the bleeding doesn't last that long again...NOT FUN.

Yes its perfectly normal to bleed for that long. I bled for 5 weeks, and stopped for 3 days, then had my first period.  my first period lasted for 5 days like normal. and now I just got my second period since Cole was born, and he is almost 14 weeks old.  Some bleed more then others and some bleed less.
